Imma just wait quietly for these obscene shits to get their due when fuckaroundandfindout kicks in because it’s coming. No way these next four years won’t produce some thin patience and white hot anger.
Great example of an idiot expressing his view in a mainstream media editorial. He was likely paid to write this in an attempt to normalize the appalling behavior of Trump and his cronies. Because Bezos wants a tax cut. @smerconish.bsky.social @chrislhayes.bsky.social @chriscillizza.bsky.social
The time to stop putting money in Jeff Bezos’s pocket has come.
Cancel subscriptions. Also, Amazon is not a good deal any more. They’re not the cheapest, the fastest. It would be nice to see American consumers cure their addiction to it.
American democracy cannot survive having AGS, Bezos, Musk and PEs control journalism. They must go before there can again be a thriving news environment.
What I’m going to be looking for are the investigative pieces—or lack thereof. If the Post no longer breaks stories on the Trump administration, we know it’s because the reporters are no longer permitted to publish potentially embarrassing material. Death knell for a once serious publication.
I unsubscribed from them but the subscription was paid in September for a year. So I still see it until then. I think I wasn't the only one. Enjoying the "this dummy doesn't look so good and they are not even in office yet". Choices have consequences. People told you it's gonna be bad.
I get almost daily offers from the Post to re-join after I cancelled my subscription. Thanks for posting this. Just another reminder why I will not go back.
I cancelled my sub and I no longer read anything there. Re the subtitle: 69% of the country support the murder by execution of a predatory CEO, while only ~48% voted for an administration that might have addressed affordable health care for all. It doesn’t seem like a pro-democratic populace to me.
Neither doubting nor believing the numbers. I’m perplexed by a democracy which prefers murdering a VIP over electing officials who will implement policies we want (thereby mitigating the need for murder). WAPO’s editorial subhead says we like democratic mechanisms (e.g., trial, jury, voting).
Thank you for responding. I’m perplexed, too, about people, especially voters. Can’t even guess how close I think the numbers are because I obviously don’t know people as well as I thought I did.
The Guardian folks! Under $100/yr, legit global news and perspective and no cash to the kissers of trump's hideous backside.
10% of WAPO subscribers gone so far...
Going only off the headline, it's difficult to say how misleading the article is, but the 'resilient' bit could, cóúld, be a valid reference to democratic processes defeating Russian interference in Romania and Moldova, and the people of Georgia protesting en masse to defend their democracy.
The broligarchy will enshrine misogyny in federal law and women will officially be second class citizens. Where were women in 2024?How is bodily autonomy insufficient motivation to vote? Better speak out before it’s too late @womensmarch.bsky.social
I saw Carol Leonnig on MSNBC yesterday, waxing nostalgic about Trump's high approval ratings in his first term. They never exceeded 45% at their apex. 🤢
Who writes the headlines, anyway? Are there Headline Writers? Honestly don't know how that works. I ditched my subscription some time ago, despite some misgivings over some excellent journalism in other areas, much like a certain other old (NY)Timer(s). Anyone checked on on Eugene Robinson lately?
Although I cherish independant journalism and support it by subscribing, the Washington Post no longer is that. I canceled my subscription weeks ago. The tone of the print and editorials has been changing for a while, Bezos changing the board's Harris endorsement and Bezos' kissing the ring was it.
I think you need to think of the WPost these days like the WSJ. So long as the reporting is honest and energetic, just ignore the editorials. I wouldn't put Bezos in the same category as Murdoch nor is the WP columnist stable like the WSJ.
It's like the scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail when the knight slices off the arm of a commoner. Blood is spurting everywhere and the victim says, "It's merely a flesh wound." That's all we're getting now from the big-and-once-trustworthy legacy media. 🤮🤦♂️
It’s probably in transition mode…They need to prepare for the fascist regime to be their new cause…I’m sure they are getting their ducks in a row to give us
This seals the deal. No more WAPO. The oligarchy has been established and the oligarchs are now bowing to their Master King... we start by not buying WAPO and ensuring new news outlets pick up the slack. We cannot just condone this b.s.
That's quite a pronouncement from WaPo considering what % of Americans participate in voting every 2 years.
And how few can name their representatives.
Oh, so trump voters were voting for democracy? Most can’t even spell it let alone smell it. So happy the 3rd time cancelling my subscription was the final time
But they also couldn't find it acceptable to endorse a presidential candidate, at a time when the US desperately needed help avoiding a disaster like trump.
Way past time, but you're right. I finally wised up to the fact that they were covering trump as though he was just another candidate and not someone who tried to overthrow the last election.
Maybe the sane washing by media has been happening for a while. It was blatant this time around. I have to admit that for years it didn't seem that my reality or the reality of others I know matched up with what's in media. Every time they crowed about great it was going, I'd see people struggling.
Billionaires who own most MSM putting out the message, “There is nothing to see here, there is no oligarchy getting ready to loot the nation.” Thanks JB, now that it’s come from a trusted source, we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
60s and 70s we marched for Civil Rights, Women’s Rights, Voting Rights and against the Vietnam war. “We The People” made changes and our gov officials listened. Why does MAGA gives all authority to an insurrectionist, convicted felon, convicted of sexual assault, traitor billionaire trump? Why?
WaPo lost the plot sometime ago. I, who was a subscriber since the early 2000’s, cancelled in 2022 when I first noticed a serious slip into journalistic malpractice and right washing. More people should do the same.
Bingo. As soon as I realized they were covering trump as though he was just another candidate I dropped them. Those assholes never replied regarding a pro-rata refund, either.
Whether it’s the Post or the LA Times these billionaires lost interest in everything they claimed to care about and have decided we all need to learn about literal and figurative bankruptcy
Do they think we are so stupid that we need *them* to define (altetnate) reality 🤔 & we will just go "oh ok"
Like now we think trump is democracy
For God's sake elon musk is running around like a little king Do they think 🤔 we are too stupid to know?
Yet again Happy I canceled my subscription...
TRUMP IS INELIGIBLE TO BECOME PRESIDENT. 14th Amendment/Sec 3 disqualifies from public office anyone who’s taken an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution then engages in insurrection. trump incited insurrection 1/6/2021. He is disqualified. https://freespeechforpeople.org/the-14point3-campaign/

Predictable, yet mind blowing, and super duper brainy libs tell us cancelling the Post undermines investigative journalism, as if Bezos won't slant a story to please Trump. The "neutral" pre-election non-endorsement was truth telling. And, really, gazillionair Bezos is, really, one big suck up.

They and Sinclair/Smith own media companies that espouse their world views. They don’t value real journalism. It’s their portfolios.
They either capitulated to a maniacal autocrat who demands loyalty or are themselves proponents of class warfare.
I'd be embarrassed to still have one at this point

Have you read the columns written by Jamelle Bouie?
Paul Krugman has halted his column, but he’ll continue somewhere.
How dare they
We need ti get rid of the billionaires

Every time.
And how few can name their representatives.
Corporate media is a malaise on American society much like the Republican Party.

Revolutions are just a natural consequence of extreme imbalances in any system.
My guess is that Elon Musk already has food testers on staff at the bunkers on his Texas compound and at all others. Bezos tf.
WP refused to endorse the democratic candidate. Unheard of from WP not to endorse a candidate for President.
The rot is becoming unignorable.
