By my count Trump has like a billion dollars worth of free legal services and counting...even the Corleone family would blush at the audacity of this protection racket.
I'm extremely disappointed so many large firms are giving in. They are now fascist collaborators. How are they supposed to stand up for their clients, though, when they can't even defend themselves?
Our constitution provides for our right to vote. It spells out the voting process for President and Congress. It doesn’t say that we can’t have an emergency vote. So, I put this to you America, if you could vote today, would you?
The wealthy law firms will side with trump to get the next illegal tax cut for the rich! It is obvious! Remember those that take a knee and when the people control the government again CANCEL ALL GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS with these FASCIST CONSPIRATORS!
Is someone actually shocked? Absolutely no surprise from @nealkatyal.bsky.social! He lost me FOREVER when he willingly agreed to defend #Nestlé-Cargill over their accountability for #slavery in #chocolate supply chains. "Everyone deserves a defense" my... Much ❤️ to @tonyschocolonely.bsky.social
We only have one shot at this and it's now.
We need leaders more than ever. We need so many people on the streets peacefully protesting that Republicans will fear US more than the monster they created.
From @heidilifeldman.bsky.social please share widely:
Georgetown University Law Center students are detailing which law firms have caved and which have stood up to the Trump regime. They have created this spreadsheet:
Who in the HELL wants to be represented by a firm that bends over and kisses the weak fat ass of dumb grifting trash? Call the son of a bitch out for what he is: A convicted felon, twice-impeached politician, and adjudicated rapist!
Liberation Day was a complete disaster, Trump is now weak retreating to FL. For those firms who already capitulated, you should withdraw. For anyone on the fence, the emperor not only has no clothes, he's started too many wars on multiple fronts, is surrounded by incompetents and over extended.
Well said. Sometimes law firms confuse their knowledge of the law, and ability to navigate the nuances while representing clients, with personal moral standing. (I worked in a law firm for a while).
Marc:
Have attorneys thought about bringing actions under Civil Rights Act of 1866 sections 1983, 1985, and 1988 which permits suits for deprivation of constitutional rights? Potential individual liability for government officials. 1988 can award attorney's fees
I had a fleeting, yet delicious thought that these capitulating law firms can promise free services, and then in the provision of these "services" destroy the trump regime.
A "bait and switch" on the idiot trump regime would be sweet poetic justice.
I'm no lawyer, but isn't this extortion? Isn't extortion against the law? Wouldn't a law firm recognize that this is extortion?
Extortion, is a criminal offense involving using threats or force to compel someone to give money, property, or perform an action, and is against the law.
When the Nazis are gone these firms better not get one fucking dollar more from the government and dem party. Enough of the bullshit business as usual.
They need to remember how working with Nazis destroyed Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen, Messerschmidt, Porsche, bayer….
We can count on businesses to save us…
I now 💯 believe he is assembling a formidable team to defend the unlawful acts he and accomplices are undertaking, if put on trial.

They managed to control the information, now they're taking control of the justice system. A few more weeks and no one will be able to do anything for them. If you need a lawyer, try to find out if they signed a settlement with Trump and hire someone else, it's vital.
These law firms know it's a lot easier and more profitable to always punch down. When it comes to fighting someone in their own weight class, they crumble.
You might already be following these, but please take a look at these and consider following https://go.bsky.app/6dCw92a. I also write this info on small cards and leave them everywhere I go. You can also checkout https://handsoff2025.com.
Sorry, my mistake: Emhoff is at Wilkie Farr and Katyal is at Milbank. Question remains the same: Will they support their firms bending the knee and giving ridiculous amounts of legal support to trump and gang?
It will be interesting to see if Emhoff and Katyal stay with Milbank. I can't imagine they support the bending at the knee and giving the magats $100 million in free services.
Emhoff objected when Wilke Farr bent the knee, but will he leave? He needs to, especially if his wife has any political ambitions in the near future. No one will forget he bent the knee.
Both Emhoff and Katyal are still with their firms.
Some have departed those who have "bent the knee" lots of organizations (and people) have learned: Bending to a bully only encourages them and it will get worse, not better.
I guess you can only do the right thing for so long before it gets boring and then you embark on a career of screwing the people you used to support? Incredibly disappointing (understatement).
Big Law in America is abandoning
"We the People"
They aren't even challenging the EOs in court
(an easy task - given that it's their job.)
They comply in advance
They prioritize big money over justice
They knowingly choose to support fascism
They certainly do not advocate for "Justice for All"
Wow @nealkatyal.bsky.social how sad and pathetic, your opinion is now void and null. Useless. WHY bend the knee, why obey in advance. Why fear the weak and addled feeble ?
These big law firms are not a place to work or to hire for a case. Credibility goes down the drain the moment they capitulate to a known criminal scoundrel tyrant ideologue Russian asset. Did I forget anything?
The lawyers that are the real targets in these firms should leave and start their own firm. Take the associate lawyers that have left with them. It would be an amazing firm.
I used to be a partner at a large law firm. I have to say that my clients would have wondered if the firm capitulated so easily to an unconstitutional demand, how could that firm competently represent their interests. I suspect many clients at the firms so quickly bending the knee will flee.
We can give support and social media props to the law firms that are not kneeling. Positive re-enforcement works. Me and a few friends wrote thank you cards for Perkins Coie. Small acts together can make an impact.
Mr. Elias has a good heart and does God's work defending US democracy in so many ways.
Still hurts to watch the head of a pure niche litigation boutique attack other lawyers whose practice is devoted to public finance, SEC/antitrust compliance, and getting client transactions approved and closed.
Massive Bluesky accounts have choices about whether to bend to laziness and post #AbleWalled content, or stand tall to include the visually-impaired by using #AltText.
At this point, I don't feel bad for them. How do the other firms who bent on the knee look now? They are not respected and are often seen as weak and complicit, so why are more firms bending knee after they seen what happened to the previous ones?
Unless there charging the entire pro bono amount in the first hour, they are committing unfair business practices against all the other firms that wouldn't do it for any money in the world.
Can't other law firms sue based on the idea that this creates an unfair advantage for these firms and creates a "pay to play" situation? Our country wasn't founded on the idea that if you paid enough you got access. (well, maybe a little it was...)
Even after reading this article, I am in disbelief and shock. I don’t believe he could possibly be a traitor. There has to be more to the story than what I just read. Not Neal Katyal; no, not believable.
If Neil Katyal appears on MSNBC, I will listen to what he has to say. If he doesn't denounce the capitulation of Milbank law to traitor trump, then I'll boycott him. @neilkatyal.bsky.social
I agree with you considering he worked in Obama’s president for eight years and consulted on President Biden’s presidency to do a 360° turn against everything we thought he believed in is just incredible
This news is shocking!
I haven't watched any cable or network news since the election but when I did I respected Katyal too.
I guess you just never know.... smh
He is (or was) one of my favorite attorneys on TV news programs. I thought he believed in the rule of law. If he doesn’t leave that firm, it will all have been a lie and he only practices law for fucking money! I hope he comes around very soon.
I cannot tell you the level of intense shock and disappointment in Neal Katyal. He was the last one I'd have ever imagined capitulating. My stomach is aching..... please make this madness stop!
I'd like for @nealkatyal.bsky.social to explain to all of us why he capitulated at a time his country needed him the most. Why would he debase himself in front of the American people and the world?
Did he or did the firm?
He could still repudiate this and tesign. But I haven’t heard or seen anything from him directly.
🤞🫣🧐 I want to hear from him directly. This is shameful and I never would have believed he’d be a part of it.
Big law firm agreements with the administration in response to unconstitutional and unlawful eos are probably legally unenforceable because made under duress, violative of client rights and unethical (adm wouldnt want to enforce in courts). they don't protect firms from future similar threats. buy 🕰️
i'm guessing firms are 'buying' into Illegal pledge & waiting for Congress to act with Impeachment:
§ 208 Acts affecting a personal financial interest
§ 241 Conspiracy against rights
§ 873 Extortion
§ 873 Blackmail
§ 875 Interstate communications
§ 1961 Racketeering [RICO]
they should all be forced to watch Judgment at Nuremberg where a renowned judge is forced to realize that helping the Nazis has ruined everything he ever had. the role is in the very capable hands of my fave, Burt Lancaster, who insisted on taking that rather than the anti-Nazi Lawson.
As a lawyer, I’m stunned and so disappointed in him. I guess we shouldn’t ascribe character just because someone is good on tv and seems to say the right things
Hopefully he’ll stand up and do the right thing publicly. I always respected him and would hate to find out he’s a schmuck lawyer. He’s better than that hopefully!
I grew up with a very convincing lawyer. Why a law firm would capitulate when they're so good at debate, is beyond me! Get your best.
In front. Just the facts ma'am
Mark if they cared about history or righteousness they’d not be acting like capitulating residents of the 3rd Reich who stood by while trade unionists and jews were rounded up and handicapped children were mass murdered by sondercommandos.
The problem is how many law firms are truly squeaky clean? ie haven't got a least something in their past that they could be arguably held liable for. The thought of having the FBI, IRS & DOJ all set on them at once by Trump is enough to make any fold

Hey! If it works one way, it works both ways!
Where were you when it still mattered?
Katyal has been at Milbank about 2 months now and has not been heard from regarding this issue
We don't know if he was even in the room when this decision was made. If he was, it is indeed a major disappointment.
