π got me in its grasp bc of associating it to ofmd/ed & stede's love color, but it's also my second favorite color and the π has never been a pleasing green to me π
π and π are favs, blue is my color and π is just a heart with a lil something extra. Also like π cause it reminds me of the powerpuff girls lol
π€ for a sentence ender, π when I'm feeling whimsical or sparkly and β₯οΈ (the heart from playing cards because it has more depth) when I really mean it. And often I match the heart color to the art I'm liking!
itβs the best. itβs like the stripe on a big olβ brown van or the most uncomfortable seat youβve ever sat on at an old independently-owned fast food restaurant
π mostly bc purpleβs always been my favorite color and now the connection to Ed falling in love just makes it even sweeter. But it depends on context sometimes? Like with family Iβm not close to I just use classic red
β€οΈ unless the other person has already sent a heart emoji, in which case I mirror whichever one they used, bc if they've used it then it must be the Correct Emoji For This Situation
Red is classic but I rarely just use a heart emoji. I'm more likely to use π₯° or π« depending on the occasion. Occasionally I'll use β€οΈπ« in conjunction but that's for somber occasions (condolences) where a festive colored heart would be too playful for the mood.
Not a 100%, but tendencies:
π mostly, especially in fandom
𧑠for e.g. Whatsapp reacts with IRLs that don't feel close enough for purple heart
β€οΈ for spouse, bff, very dear messages
[custom sparkly rainbow heart] in Discord
π when I'd like to put custom sparkly rainbow heart but am on wrong platform
I use purple because my mom passed away a couple of years ago, and purple was her favorite color. She was the most kind, peaceful, and loving person I've ever known. So, in my mind, by using it, her love always lives on through me π
Usually β€οΈ, because it's a classic and because I'm afraid the other colors have other meanings that I don't know.
I also use π in fic comments because it has a different vibe (that I can't describe) that sometimes fits better
π and I donβt remember why actually! I know it was around when I made my first proper Internet friends, I mightβve honestly been copying them? I will still now sometimes copy another personβs heart in especially emotional moments as like. Another empathy layer
β€οΈ because I'm vaguely aware that other colours might Mean Something but I'm never quite sure what, whereas I'm pretty sure β€οΈ means "this person is over 35 and doesn't understand the code"
I do a mix of π π π and β₯οΈ (but only ever the card suit version of the red heart because it looks softer and nicer). The others I have no system for, just vibes
Purple is my heart emoji of choice because it's pretty, but also because it's a colour associated with mourning - I can be a bit melancholy. Plus, I use two because I feel things very deeply and as a nod to Doctor Who! ππ
Comments
thereβs no rhyme or reason to it
π because i dated someone 9 years ago who used it all the time and i thought it was pretty π₯°
but lately been trying out π©΅ because teal's my favorite color nowadays

Flat matte hearts, because I hate shiny.

The red one often feels too strong idk?
Interesting question cause it opens such a nice lil door into ppls thoughts ;)
π for slightest touch Ed and Stede π₯°

Any of them using the "anatomically accurate" heart is extra insane and I love it
Because purple is the best color
RED.
It's a classic, it's basically a neutral, and I'm not afraid to show the world I got some big feelings, damn it .
π because I like the pizazz of the sparkles π
I'm a sucker for heart eyes, and it's how I'll commonly respond to things I like if I have options outside of β₯οΈ
And ππ for my SeaHawks on blue Friday and on game days.
