There are so many huge things to fear and discuss that I've found myself taking refuge in minor complaints, like "I can't find the precise kind of herbal tea that I want," or "These tomatoes are slightly too fibrous." There's something so satisfying about a minor gripe.

I have a gripe about the zipper pulls on my winter jacket! They are tiny! Impossible to operate with gloves on! And hard to start! Seems like it is a trend nowadays.
I do something I dislike instead of the bad options. For example I really dislike baking. So I would spend a few hours being angry and frustrated at making simple bread.
Me: oh thank god, I can be distracted from politics.
