Legit tho, I spent a long weekend in Chicago over St. Patrick's and saw the river dyed, boat tour, saw like five Second City shows, art museum, natural history museum... I had a great time!
Maybe not your only stop, but it's worth a stop.
@edzitron.com I know the man responsible for that. Used to work for him. He's a Kiwi, of course. Somehow he got Enjoy Illinois set up as the official travel sponsor of Crystal Palace. But if you want to visit Illinois, you should just let me give you a guided tour. Don't listen to the haters.
They have to show it from the top down because a landscape would just be a straight line. (Really, though, the Starved Rock area is beautiful and it feels like you're stepping into a different planet from the rest of its surroundings. Plus, our pizza is better than yours.)
I've seen the ads on tv sometimes. I grew up in in small Illinois river town near St. Louis and it was a Tom Sawyer-esque experience, but I'd never go back.
I went down a Wikipedia rabbit hole double checking. And yeah, there just aren’t that many mayors in modern history. Big Bill Thompson should have, but didn’t.
It has some nice places but it’s either too cold, too hot, too humid, and the spectrum of acceptable political attitudes goes from “lifelong evangelical Republican” to “unrepentant Klansman.”
I think these are the ad screens that make me the angriest lately. There were several right when you pulled into the parking garage at my old job. Never came closer to vandalism in my life
