I can’t listen to the podcast any more than I actually do, being just one person. But if I could “Bill Maher? Fuck off with that guy” would be excellent motivation to listen more
Not going to obsessively post about this but it's cool to break the top 100 pods, and cooler to (even briefly) outpace Lex Fridman in whatever Apple's podcast alchemy is
You definitely deserve to feel good about it. Your unique unabashed (and importantly, accurate) hate for the ghouls of tech makes you an international treasure.
very happy for you but mostly reeling because of course the big brain dumbfucks at All-In would settle on that dogshit first draft idea for their cover art
If I had a nickel for every podcast with a skull in its logo that is in the top 90-100 spots of podcasts, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
It's funny to me that people always pointing to the sounds on St. Anger sucking when DM is the worst-sounding (mastered) album in my entire collection.
Material is good, but when the album is SO LOUD and clippy that I can't listen to it more than *half* of a volume click up from 0, I'll turn it off
People try to go after St. Anger's songwriting, which was fine, but seem to forget that Maiden is pretty much incapable of giving us more than half a good album every single go.
Many bosses you shall defeat on the way to number 1, but warning, it’s a minefield of woo woo white girls offering life changing advice, fascist adjacents, fascists, IPO lottery winners who want Ayn Rand to run San Francisco, crypto bros, and mediocre edge lord comedy bros “just asking questions”
I used to feel bad that I heckled Bill Maher at a comedy show in NYC in the early 90s before I knew that was a shitty thing to do, but I do not regret it now.
Agreed. He went from one of the few people willing to speak out against the Bush administration to platforming Dr. Phil and railing against "Those millennial kids" who are actually 40. He was always problematic. But he full on lost his way at some point.
His criticism of the Bush administration gets idealized to the point of fantasy as well.
He was just being a contrarian. He was proposing other countries he thought we should go to war with instead, and almost immediately rolled over and started saying that the war was necessary.
Covid really finished breaking his brain, he was always "vaccine skeptical" or however he wanted to spin it and those few years just sent him over the edge.
Yeah, 2020 was when I stopped listening to his show in podcast form. His petty frustration over masking in the face of the virus mutating. Like, you made fun of religious people not believing science to make you famous. What is happening that you don't get this??

I think that's how it goes in podcast rankings.
(and thank you for your service!)
Also, congrats! Your work is incredible and I’m a big fan!
Or have you taken sensible precautions to keep that from ever happening?
