Sorry but please don’t say that sort of thing. Disabled people aren’t your inspiration. And she didn’t ‘overcome’ her illness, she still suffers with it. Many with the same illness can’t even read anymore let alone write. It’s great, I’m pleased for her, but it’s not about ‘overcoming’ anything.

No offense meant. I was speaking from personal experience (not with this particular illness) and there are days I very much feel like I have to overcome a hurdle to do the simplest of things. It gives me hope to see that others can do things. I apologize if my wording came off wrong.

The best part to me is that, somehow, Piranesi is even better. "Let's write something simple I can manage" somehow led to her writing an absolute masterpiece that made me cry my eyes out in the last pages and I still cannot explain WHY. Have to read it again.

I also loved Piranesi! I first read it in 2022, the sense of isolation and the uncertainty of time hit really hard (after two very isolated years) and left me feeling unsettled for days after finishing it. It felt like I was carrying the setting with me for a while, it was very surreal.

Strangely enough, I happened to be assessing an old book store for demolition. There were still a bunch of books left behind and "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell" was one of them. I grabbed a copy and absolutely loved it. Was wondering why I had not seen much from the author subsequent to this.
