Gonna take this opportunity to say that I can personally deliver no script for as little as 7 million, and I know some other writers who can do it for as little as five million.

It barely even needs a coherent plot to be a fun movie! Hot adventurer in shorts with big guns runs around fighting stuff and escaping traps to get McGuffin, that’s it!

The last movie was “Hot Cast races to find pieces of magical McGuffin to save the world from evil time-warp cult” and it was fine.

Waller-Bridge had two strong series behind her: "Killing Eve" and "Fleabag." It seems hard to believe this third series was, even before cameras began rolling, a total misfire. Hmm. Maybe someone else will pick it up. (I also liked Waller-Bridge in "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.")

My guess is that they kept rejecting scripts for being "too expensive" but a globetrotting action series can only be made so cheap before it starts to LOOK cheap. These are the consequences of trying to push prestige tv so far. They want the benefits of high budget but they also want the savings
