Asking people if they wanna see a cool rock you found is so important, because that’s the best way to know if you should invite them into your blanket fort to look at the Guinness book of world records

I knew it! You can take the geologist out of the field, but you'll never take the field out of the geologist. "Chinese writing on rock is a type of igneous rock called porphyry that contains feldspar crystals in a black basalt matrix. The crystals' shapes are similar to Chinese writing symbols. "
You should have enough rocks to rebuild a wall if it falls down. Schists and ophiolites on the outside, syenite and granite inside for that special homey feeling.
I love it when I don't quite grasp something but get it just enough to know the problem is me. Always room to learn and grow even at 77 year old. https://trueman-triola.stories.email/
I'm looking for an acrylic box for my windowsill to put all my cool rocks and sea glass in. Anyone find a product like this??? I have no more room on my windowsill... Things are getting desperate.
My daughter has an intellectual disability. Anyway, at high school they were learning that there are different rocks and they all have different names. I asked her which was her favourite and she, so excited, said number 3. When I asked what type of rock that was she said "number 3."
Interesting combo. I'd definitely offer a cool rock to look at but then instead of a Guinness Book, I'd have to go with the World Atlas and the Star Atlas if they are SUPER cool 😎
Heck yeah, I’m 57. I want to see all the rocks and hear where you got them and what you were doing … and this nana understands the blanket for snack assignment.
That's where the generational difference is. For me, it wasn't Guinness in my blanket fort. It was the D&D Monster Manual, and Bloom County compilations.
As a geologist, I get asked to look at cool rocks all the time. Some are really cool, but mostly, the people are fascinated and wonderful about the asking.
This is the optimal vetting process. If they're not hyped about the rock, they're clearly not worthy of the blanket fort/Guinness Book combo. You've cracked the code to peak cozy vibes. 🙌
100% accurate. And if you are not an adult with said rock, blanket fort, and book of world records just know I’m judging you and not likely to hang around.
This! I love rocks and sticks and I collect all that I connect with. One of the best birthday presents I received as an adult was a bag of rocks (one of which is pictured below) I also got an unopened geode from an ex and breaking that sh*t open was magical ✨✨✨🪨✨✨✨
I keep forgetting this exists but I’m fairly sure this isn’t just a rock. This post reminded me i have it I keep forgetting to ask someone other than the husband.

The main character is obsessed with Guinness world records. Beautiful story.
Worst part of emigrating across an ocean is losing a lifetime of favorite rocks 😭😭
Used to do that millennia ago.
Cause no one wants to see that
I wanna see everyone's cool rocks
I, too, wanna see everyone's cool rocks.
Can I come into the blanket fort?
I’ll bring the s’mores for the fort….
You make me smile everyday.
Also Guinness book , took me right back to
The 6th grade scholastic fair.
I’ll grab ya a poster and pencil whilst I’m here 📚
Smiles innocently. "Um, just a couple." (Of dozen..) Hands him a $20.
Great post! 🪨
Not shown the actual gift of Poseidon.
Go back to where you found it and excavate. Might be remnants of an ancient Dinosaur Nail Salon.
Good find! 👍Itsakeeper!!!
