Here, they can put pressure on to open that spot up, especially if you aren't meeting standards. We've had at least one tenured professor moved along when his alcoholism (probably) led to sexual harassment.

I'm a little surprised they didn't revoke tenure, but then, I've never really understood tenure. I mean, I know *what* it is, what I don't get is the justification for it.
