Take a look at the Waterfront which is right down the road from here. It used to be a giant complex of steel mills and now it's a night life location. The area here, the Carrie Furnace, is now a National Historic Landmark and has been renovated into a education, tour, workshop and event space!
It's one of the reasons I love Pittsburgh so much. When our industries up and left us high and dry, we rolled up our sleeves and reinvented the city into a tech and healthcare hub. We keep small monuments to the past (like the Waterfront Stacks or the Carrie Furnace) but we look toward the future.
You can tour that facility. The Carrie Furnaces. On the other side of the Mon (more or less) from the site of the old Homestead mill site, which is a large shopping center now.
holy shit this is the funniest thing i've ever seen. i am not being sarcastic or exaggerating. i spent hundreds of hours with the remakes and i can't even say how much you nailed this.
Nibel on my Heim until I _____ (insert any word from the game here), lol. Also, I thought that was the steel stacks in Bethlehem, PA until I saw that it was Pittsburg. FF7/pre-rendered ass background, indeed!
