I read this book in 2007. It described how republican presidents from Reagan to Bush Sr. To Bush Jr., were consolidating power in the office in ways never intended.

It was a warning that some future President could easily become a dictator or king.

Only thing I'd change is that the Courts have become religious/oracles that interpret the divine workings of the executive so that they become codified for the ages--which is still ceremonial, but technically doing more than congress, which is literally just the Royal Family in terms of relevance.

I think you're wrong about the courts. Definitely less independent than we would like, but not purely ceremonial. We don't know that they will violate court orders, and we have to assume they won't because the rule of law only exists when we believe it does.

We also don't know that the courts can't enforce a court order if anyone in the administration (or Musk) is found in contempt of court. There are very much reasons to be concerned, but even in the worst case, blue states who follow court orders in violation of EOs will have a strong leg to stand on
