Nutty Dungeons is a 3D platformer where you make and play 3D dungeons! I've been working on it in secret for the last few years and I'm really happy to say it's almost ready for beta. You can wishlist the game here:
This reminds me of the epic quest for mighty loot, but done a lot more polished, and doesn't seem as agitating, in a very good way I make this connection because its good looking game.
ND is a combination of so many things i have loved — getting funny feelings about PS2 mascot guys as a kid; staying up late making stupid LBP2 levels with my friends as a teenager. If you grew up with similar things, I hope the game can rekindle those feelings.
i can Feel the inspiration from these games in my BONES. the sly cooper movement, the protag looking inspired by the darkest faerie protag, the level design aspect that little big planet had, the puzzles of portal, with a really nice toony style kind of like spyro. might be off base, but this rules
I have mostly been working alone, but I want to shout out collaborators: Jesse Hamel for doing sound design and the editor music; @hymynameismatt.bsky.social and Blaze Lightcap for testing the editor; @maximumcooldude.bsky.social and @menacingmarsh.bsky.social for helping with concept art.
I remember a game called The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot. And it was a top down, build your own dungeon kind of game, but it was just a little bit too "mobile game", but I was really into the concept. I hope there's some fun challenge things in this you can put in to make it challenging & competitive
I saw the video, and I was pleasently interested. My curiosity was peaked when the button icons reminded me of little big planet 2. Then I saw this. I feel pandered to.
I love stuff like this. What reward and progression hooks are you aiming for? Or are they completely self contained? What is the build limit? Could someone, say, recreate all of Dark Souls in the editor if they tried? Or would they have to break it down level by level at best? Coop? Vs?
This looks really cool! I realize it'll be a while before such a thing happens, but I hope at some point you might consider releasing this on itch or GOG once it's finished/out of beta. I'll certainly be keeping my eye on this in the meantime~
I love the animation detail you have similar to when Sly Cooper tries to break something indestructible, where your sword reverberates and lingers on it.
This looks absolutely amazing! I’ll be wishlisting it right away! You can really tell the detail and love that went into it immediately. The sound design, the details of the character sitting in the chair, the physics, the way the sword vibrates when he hits it against the steel gate. *Chefs kiss*
Now would this be similar to games like Meet Your Maker where you can create a level and then have other players try to beat that level? I like the concept so far, definitely can tell PS2 platformers we're a big inspiration.
My favourite part is the detail of Rudy (whom I already adore btw) going to sit in a little chair and watch when you switch back to editing view.
It's so completely unnecessary functionally, but it adds so much charm and personality. Really speaks to the love that's gone into the design & animation.
Oh this looks wonderful, and seeing all the same stuff that inspired me as a kid listed as inspiration makes me very very excited. Looking good and can't wait to see more!
These level design tools look absolutely SICK, would you have any recommendations for a godot user to get started making one of those (like selecting the grid of tiles and extruding/etc)
Oh man the idea where if you completely lose a healthbar more of his armour is destroyed it a nice detail! Like the idea of Health literally being linked to your armour and it's taking the fatal blows for you
Omg the inspiration games are some of my favorites too!! Seeing Neopets Darkest Fairy is such a joy that game is seriously underloved!!
This project looks amazing and beautiful 💛 best of luck!
This looks incredible, I love the fluidity of the movement, bouncing off walls and obstacles - and the wobbly sword when you hit the bars is a great touch :)
The design of the hero character is so shapely and on point, if this were released twenty years ago I think they'd be remembered just like Spyro or Crash are.
I love how they leap like an actual squirrel as well, you have put so much charm into this and I look forward to the release of the beta!
this looks INSANELY fun, I can't wait for this to be released, in beta, just generally playable. Very nice main character, awesome art style and it looks like both movement and the editor (lovely touch with him following the cursor, btw) are smooth af. 👀
wow i'm so happy this showed up on my timeline, it's like my dream game. Ever since meet your maker was fumbled I've been looking for a similar game like it. I'd like to ask a few questions about it, if that's okay.
also my 4th question, you looking for QA? 👀 I'd be happy to volunteer and lend my qa experience to a project like this. I've got a little over 3 years experience working as a tester in the industry, and have helped out with other indie projects on the side as well
AHHHH IM SO EXCITED
im so stoked you've finally gotten a project there - ive loved your stuff for years and always looked forward to the day you'd release a solo project.
huge congrats! definitely playing this a *lot* when i get my paws on it
This looks simply amazing. Wow what a nostalgia bomb with its own identity. That’s sooo hard to capture. I’m keeping my eye on this and getting as many friends hyped about it too!
Looking forward to this now, it looks like something I would've rented from Blockbuster as a kid, loved, and then never been able to find when I had money to buy it (I mean this in a positive way)
Wow the animations, shaders, VFX all of it… a level of juice I aspire to. Literally going frame by frame on this. The combo of LBP and 3D Zelda is very exciting!
i've seen a couple of 2d 80's/90's inspired dungeon crawler level creator games, but this is the first time i've seen a 3d 90's/00's inspired dungeon crawler level creator
immediately wishlisted and looking forward to a release!
this is firing off every neuron in my brain all at once oh my god. i think the moment it pulled back to reveal itself as a level editor was the point where i realized you pulled this directly out of 12 year old me's daydreams.
I absolutely LOVE how full of life your character animations are, the bouncy movements, the way he shakes himself off after being knocked down, the knockdown itself. It's all so expressive and brimming with personality.
Furries are, like, absolutely carrying (maybe more than) half the world of games that are actually worth shit artistically on their backs
This looks fucking incredible, really hoping your work pays off!
The character and the way the sword and shield is positioned combined with the book enemies reminds me a LOT of Neopets: The Darkest Faerie. I think perhaps you were inspired by that game and also some Zelda stuff probably. It looks fun.
Like seriously, the Darkest Faerie was my childhood. I still occasionally boot up my old ass PS2 to play it. It's got better depth and platforming than pretty much anything else I played back in the day, so it's still challenging and fun. Anyone reading this should play it if they can imo.
Hope this will have the ability to make custom enemies. Maybe allowing custom scripts to be injected. Imagine porting Mario from SM64 into the game. Yes you can do this btw
Looking incredible! Definitely gives me those PS2 vibes with all the expressive mascot platformers <3. You mentioned Little Big Planet, and I'm thinking of Ratchet and Clank, Spyro, Crash and Jak and Daxter. Very appealing art style! Good luck, we need more passion projects out there <3
Ok can I just say.
The way he opened the chest at the end with the little triumphant toon and the way the whole camera sorta WHOMP into position with him leaning into the chest that just activated some old ps2 memories of like...Jak and Daxter I think? You're nailing the aesthetic so much. <3

I'm in love with everything about it so far! haha
Wishlisted!
From one adventuring creative to another, consider it wishlisted!
Any thoughts on Altador? 😳
this is hella good work, love the concept of this :-)
I'm hype for this, looks charming as hell. love the hunky squirrelknight.
Immediately added to my wishlist
wishlisted it just now.
Wishlisted for sure
Dunno when I'll have a chance to pick it up but I'm interested
Curious if you're going to be able to save maps and send them to your friends to try and complete them since it's single player game?
Very very well done art style. Reminds me of Dungeon Defenders, which I enjoyed.

😄💓💓💓💕
Im so excited to see a new game from you!!
Neat
The movement animations.
The way the sword TWANGS when it bounces off the gate.
The way the character is stuck in a director’s chair during edits.
Magnificent. 🤌
cause i sure want it both on steam and gog
This looks dope.
It's so completely unnecessary functionally, but it adds so much charm and personality. Really speaks to the love that's gone into the design & animation.

Okay not only is the concept sick but the animation is as well, hot damn!
I love how they leap like an actual squirrel as well, you have put so much charm into this and I look forward to the release of the beta!
Absolutely fabulous! ♥️
How did ya make it?
Really wanna know since its such a cool and interesting way of making a dungon crawler ^-^
I guess the premise is to make it fun for yourself?
This dungeon game you're showing what you're working on looks so interesting. It perked my interests!
Welcome to Bsky, btw. ^^
2. Will stage creators be required to beat their stages before publishing?
3. Is there a stage browser with ratings in-game? Or is it entirely using steam workshop
im so stoked you've finally gotten a project there - ive loved your stuff for years and always looked forward to the day you'd release a solo project.

the way its animated though
got all that late ps1 era vector graphics charm with the ps2 era's power and expressive flow
ooooo
The way he opened the chest at the end with the little triumphant toon and the way the whole camera sorta WHOMP into position with him leaning into the chest that just activated some old ps2 memories of like...Jak and Daxter I think? You're nailing the aesthetic so much. <3
The idea is very fun too and it seems to have plenty of character!
Because I can feel the Ghost and Goblins Armor Break system XD
P.S.
This looks really really sick, gonna wishlist it right away ❤️
But how will the gameplay look? Cause infinite possibilities make it quite easy, no?
In love with the concept and style, I am IN
Great idea for a game, too - looks like a lot of room for player-engineered solutions to problems!
Animations are amazing!
Concept is creative.
Textures are on point.
Gameplay seems very fun with many options!
What is there not to like here??
Will be following this game from now on!
and i can hear the Portal 2 inspiration for the terraforming sounds, haha
