I really like old herbarium illustrations. Last year I wrote some software to parse, score, and process the Oxford 400 herbarium dataset to remove the paper background and select the best photos.

What makes you think UoO holds copyright in these images?
Thank you for sharing !
I’ve taken up embroidery again, and think some of these would be fun to attempt in thread on cloth. The illustrations are stunning. My iPad also shows them on a white background, but seeing them on a black background is much more dramatic.
Thank you so much 🥰
I'm gonna see if I can find a way so they present on a black background for the next set of images.

And yes, if I could, I would like to download some of the images in your Github folder if that's ok with you (am learning to paint in gouache and plants are my muse).

You'll definitely* thank me later .
I've been meaning to memorise more botany. Maybe these would work well in combination with Anki?
(I've not made any cards on there before either.)
Thank you 🙏🏼
P.S. Anki: did you ever use flashcards when revising for exams at school? Essentially, Anki is the same, but a digital version.
Good question about SE Louisiana. A bit outside my neck of the woods. I'll have to do some research and look into it.
There are a lot of us 😊

I wish we had a native plant nursery in my town. I'm growing a bunch from seed.
Also, fwiw. I do ship plants nationwide in the USA (minus HI and AK)
I've got a bunch of stuff growing already... been doing what I can as I can but it's slow going.
Would you be interested in working with Wikimedia Commons, to do this for the vast corpus of images (see link) there?
