At some point you realize, things have to get worse for a whole lot of people for them to change voting behavior (whether they change who they vote for or show up to vote at all). No amount of "look how hypocritical this is" or "please give a single shit about someone other than you" will work
Bidin' time (pun intended)
But the truth is this basically becomes a hostage situation, and they know it. They know what they're doing, and having to keep other people perpetually suffering to prevent things from improving is, frankly, starting to piss me off.
I was already in that headspace going into the voting booth, hopeful and confident we would collectively choose the more competent and qualified candidate. βBut if we donβt, I hope things get only *just* bad enough for more people to care next time.β
I want to make clear, I don't have hope for things to get bad for anyone- what I am is resigned to the fact that things will never get better until they get very bad
For more on this exciting new philosophical development Iβd highly recommend βThe Conspiracy Against the Human Raceβ by, Thomas Ligotti and the βHorror of Philosophyβ trilogy by, Eugene Thacker.
The third album from Elvis Costello And The Attractions was supposed to be called
Emotional Fascism.
Of course the record company had no intention of putting out a record with that title for all of time. The album is called Armed Forces.
Emotional Fascism was printed as two words on the LP sleeve...

Itβs hard to keep putting that energy out there, though. Tends to get mocked.
I'm also a Joneser, and I was looking forward to her taking the reins.
Next stop...
Emotional Fascism.
