37.5 yrs in the gov't here. I busted my ass every day. Worked OT for 3 and 4 hours a day uncompensated to get benefits to applicants. We aren't lazy, are merit based AND promotions were not easy to come by. You had to pass a civil service test, score in the top 3 to be considered.
