The perception of Universal Basic Income is mistakenly seen as a handout, when in fact it’s an investment. An investment in human potential, creativity, and overall well-being. Let's reframe the narrative around UBI and recognize its true power to uplift and embolden our society.

Zoning issues and NIMBYism are another beast when it comes to govt influence, though.
We might not even be having this convo if the MW actually kept up with inflation since the 80s, though.
In regards to education, UBI has shown improvements to educational outcomes. It's hard to do well if you're often hungry and your parents fight all the time instead of helping with homework.

If each person got 2k per month, after a year how much extra buying power would we still have?

What I have said for a decade now is that UBI solves some problems, alleviates many others, and makes it easier to solve many of the remaining problems.
It's a missing foundation.
How are you gonna criticize the government when they pay you? People barely able to do it today.

It's not a mistake to see UBI as a handout. It's a mistake to view that as a problem.
By the same people that see no problem with their own handouts from the government.
What would prevent inflation or house prices rising with the extra income?
I’m seeing absolute fucking morons buying dump shacks for 1.3 million rather than moving to affordable regions.
I’m for UBI but it’s not going to fix stupid. Just lift it out of poverty.
