Human depth perception is only effective out a few hundred feet or less, you just think you understand sizes past that based on context and experience. Not being used to spotting things in the sky certainly raises questions when you just start one night in darkness...

The consequence? If I see something weird in the sky, I just presume it's a plane or something, unless it grows fast.
So my take away from this is that there is scientific proof why men don't know how large 8 inches is?
Given a lack of information the brain will often create perception on it's own.

Has anyone done a Timelapse of the paths these “drones” are taking? If they were adversary drone then why keep lights on—hysteria?

Due to lack of reference, it's impossible to tell how big a flying bird is. Even when it sits in a tree that is no estimating - trees come in too many different sizes.
Same goes for anything up there.
