And if private companies want to compete on an unsubsidized basis because they feel like they can do better than the government , have at it. That’s capitalism.
Right now the ins industry has perfected gaming the ACA. So much has changed from 2010. It’s time to solve problems. No politic

Humana didn't get enough 'likes' , "stars", and profits.

Only 25% of Humana members will be in plans with four stars or above next year, down from 94% this year 😬👀

How do you decide who can’t afford?
plan fees and deductibles are just basic cost recovery tools?
interesting. Admin costs definitely lower. that’s huge. it’s like a hybrid system. Good if moving towards full public model in future
so i will the insurance lobby has a lot of politicians on their books. Essentially you say The government insures, TPAs handle claims and there can be a number of plans and deductibles?
Know. But it’s refreshing to talk solutions
That way, insurance returns to being for catastrophic expenses only, rather than being a bad subscription service.
We also need interstate and even international competition.
Not to disparage my own employer—your approach to leadership is a valuable incentive.
Hey Mark. Somebody is impersonating you or you were a terrible speller.
Thank you for all that you do 💙
The hospital services alone billed insurance $42,028.74. Insurance Covered $4,254.00. What is the true cost? Why can different ins carrier contract for vastly different reimbursement? Insanity.
Insurance companies pay a negotiated rate. Like retail stores that have endless sales, no one ever pays full price. It's a starting point.
and get a good discount
Haven't had a cleaning for the past 35 years that didn't require a DEEP cleaning consisting of at least two extra appointments & an out of pocket $400. Fuck dentists. I make it my personal goal to fuck their wives with full consent & broken condoms. Let them work it out.
The lab refused point blank for me to pay full price bc I had ins and they forced me to use it.
Every x-ray they went back and forth with ins for auth. For 3 HOURS, while I waited.
Turned out they were charging ins $20 more 😤
I stopped getting x-rays
I praise you to high heaven!
I wish you would run for President.

What happens to employer tax credit from providing coverage? Addressing that upfront may also help get some large employers on board
Having said that - I do NOT support the status quo of tiered coverage/pricing.

Sounds to me like you should visit with some foreign experts in national systems.
I think a key element is bringing the entire risk pool closer together by getting employers out of the mix. (A lot to unwind to be sure).
Today, the Medicaid, Marketplace, Medicare pool is massively lopsided against an overall much healthier employer-based pool.
Since switching from bartering systems to higher velocity monetary systems, the species has unknowingly been pseudo-selecting for apathy and abstract intelligence over empathy and emotional intelligence.
Dark triad traits are provably genetic. Tech multiplies impact.
I will never agree to privatized healthcare, no matter the rules in place or the punishments administered. One wrong douchebag, and the system goes right back to companies exploiting people for profit.
But i do like what you got going on here.
You’d previously mentioned that there were issues with the Canadian system that people would not like. If you were to improve its system, what changes would you rationally make.
Curious if the answer to this puts us at a better footing for our own system.
Single payer system and triage systems to streamline patient priority.
Let Government compete with private insurance and let the market decide who has the better product.

You said it perfectly.
😎
Who is setting deductible amount and fee schedule ? AMI based? Didn’t totally understand.
Your explanations of the backroom policy making going on as well as your prescription drug program are in great demand and great examples of how the rich could help
Thank you
Not helpful b/c it can't scale and also b/c (more importantly) we need employers out of the healthcare biz. As it is, they're effectively unregulated insurance companies.

Take in premiums, use it to pay out healthcare costs. If you have extra, KEEP IT FOR THE FUTURE.
Or reduce premiums.
But profit? Pfffft. Give me a break. That just means inefficiency.
Do they get a say?
Hidden in the price of all goods and services originating in the USA is the price of healthcare. No other nation on earth does this - because - economically, it’s really stupid.
Another thought: I’m surprised that businesses paying for employees’ plans don’t see that they could be unburdened and keep a significant portion of profit w/an NHS-type solution.
1. Providers might resist lower negotiated rates, which could cause supply issues or reduced QoC.
2. Paying TPAs per claim and eliminating the incentive to deny care is great, but May need additional incentives to maintain high quality care and reduce fraud. --

Plus ins co profits. “Public option” seems like step 1
