I can’t get back to comments, but this is a good explanation of what is likely going on. Also bunch of more AI tells in the comments if you’re looking for them.
Yeah, AI is making me rethink seeing this theatrically. The vibe was so good in the trailer, and then, ugh.
And as already mentioned HIRE the ridiculously talented artists Marvel have instead. I would have loved to see era-specific posters & things (not just Grimm.)
What do you mean by "the rest"? The movie too or just the rest of the poster? Not that I disagree that it isn't great they've used AI, I'm just unclear as to your opinion.
It wouldn’t be shocking as the MCU doesn’t exactly respect the actual art of the comics, i wasn’t that excited anyway with Doom being white washed to not be Romani
To be...well not fair but bad in a different way, It is just as likely that Doom is still Roma, but they casted a white guy to play him. Americans for the most part have no idea what Roma look like, hell some probably think they were made up. So cast a white guy and they can't tell the difference.
Maybe but they also did not refer to Wanda or Pietro as being Roma, either way as a fan of Doom it’s going to be tiring seeing MCU fans try and say RDJ is a Good Doom while also not knowing anything about his character and them defending erasing Roma characters.
1. I mostly agree, Doom's past was shaped by the persecution of his people and one of the reasons he is seen as a protector by his people rather than a tyrant is he put an end to that at least. It is one of the most interesting things about him. Without it he loses depth. RDJ is a good actor, but...
Wonder if they didn’t want their first Romani chatacter to be a villain… which could have easily been avoided by just keeping Scarlet Witch as Romani instead of an Olsen.
i’m irrationally annoyed at the woman who is holding the twin lens reflex camera incorrectly. the viewfinder is ON TOP of the camera! she’s basically pointing it blind.
This literally coulda just been a photo of real people with a filter grain placed on it. And that woulda been more fun and actually real. AI can’t replace real art.
I kind of feel that way but I also think you should at least see a little since its coming off the top and the collar isnt raise either. It would need to have a lot of slack on that side.
I’m of the thinking that it’s B-team creative (I don’t mean that in a derogatory way) comping dozens of images of a few models together (you can see models popping up multiple times). The telltales in all four posters are of a limited shoot (or pulled from set stills), not AI. Just my 2¢ :)
I can't find a single Rolleiflex that looks like this. There's always a distinctive bolt hole at 2 o'clock just off the winder, and nothing that has the B/8-looking hole in the upper right
I would imagine it’s a (cheap) prop given to an extra during a crowd scene, and photographed by the on-set BTS photographer during a rehearsal or an actual take, which is why there wasn’t any direction to hold the thing right side up
you can't expect much quality and care in superhero movies anymore, it's an already hollowed out product, sold on a "whatever" basis to a sea of people who don't care about refined quality
also to me personally, granted as someone who hasn't seen much on this movie, the general art direction just seems so odd. Like, it's just a bunch of people cheering with signs; what does that tell me about this movie? how does seeing a generic crowd of people get me excited for the story?
what's that extra arm coming from the male photographers side? is that a third arm or supposed to be some invisible person behind him? it looks like a third arm to me. 🤔
My brain can't figure out how this works. It looks like the AI couldn't create a face for this dude, and they either didn't have a stock face at the right angle, or they ran out of stock faces, so they just... put a hat really low?
If you want to give a person one less finger at least hire an artist who does that kind of thing on purpose. Like me, Marvel. Hire me, Marvel. I promise I won't populate the entire movie with goblin girls.
Disney and Feige fuckin' shit up, as is ussual of megacorps who don't actually get (or give) a crap of the comics, and who is rather surprising that mr Moore hasn't cursed yet, are making slop? Not too surprising, tho i had alesat some expectatives for the F4 movie, i guess only Gunn is good
I'm take this moment to also share a useless factoid and something that AI will NEVER understand about clothes and that you'll always be able to tell: Men's jackets are buttoned on the right side, and women's jackets are buttoned on the left side.
Imagine hiring one singular artist who can draw in a beautiful 60s style. There are not literally so many of those who are incredibly talented. Imagine. Ah but we dream.
No you misunderstand, this character was simply in a horrifying industrial accident! Absolutely pivotal to the story of the film! It's uh...an allegory, you see. Don't ask what for.
This - it's not just bad, it's that no one in authority has even looked at this and realised the clothes don't line up with the joints, the angles of which don't line up with the bodies, which are all different sizes to their heads, let alone the other figures, and the light and shadow is random.
*Favourite* part of the slop genAI Fantastic Four poster is the unresolved shapes that go nowhere.
This one vague hand-shape attached to an amorphous navy blob, seems related to a corresponding arm, maybe related to a tiny navy-hatted head between them - the mass is absorbing a small-but-tall child.
They really prefer to burn down unnecessary amounts of energy for AI art, than to hire an artist for a decent pay, huh? Man, I am anticipating the movie, but this was the first let-down I guess.
Oh my word, it just gets worse the more you look at it. So many people in the background "waving flags" without holding them. Clothes that don't make sense. The old woman's face and glasses being absorbed into the face next to her (copied from another woman behind). Just utterly tragic nonsense.
counting fingers used to be a way we'd check toddler's drawings..
now we do it to multi-million dollar studio art.
at least the toddler has the excuse of having an underdeveloped brain and severe lack of motor skills (and the crayons being very tasty)
That's a hard pass for me. If you can't even promote your movie without using garbage AI promos, I'm going to assume there was no effort put into the quality of the movie itself.
You know it's going to be filled with AI slop when they can't even be bothered to quality-control the poster....
I think the movie industry is now trying to see how much money they can squeeze out of the difference between lower costs and their audience cottoning on to AI-slop being cheap.
I wish I had the kind of money where I could spend $500 million dollars on a film and still have the audacity to pay for an AI license rather than hire 25 extras for a photoshoot.
There's a hell of a lot of three fingers and thumbs in that image, including the lady in front of that one with the camera. She has the first finger, the middle and little finger only.
There’s so many iffy tells the more you look at it. Definitely does the AI thing where it will slowly plunge you into madness the more you try to process the details.
i think the worse thing is that has gone through a fairly 'thorough' touch up and photo manipulation process to make sure some details correlate with each other - but then seemed to miss other obvious tells - almost like they were trying to tell us something...
What are you seeing? I see things that are unusual, but not inexplicable. Here, the jacket is buttoned on her centerline, and the outer flap is angled away from camera. This may be confused by the curved lines that are detailing on the surface of the jacket.
That one doesn't super bother me, either - even has the lapel raised by the camera strap. It's a bit odd-looking but I'm not weirded out by the look or mechanics...
The really sad part is this is obviously done to evoke the style of Alex Ross’ MARVELS — tell me that camera guy not supposed to be referencing Ross’ Phil Sheldon — and Alex Ross has done posters, and they could have just hired him to paint this, and they decided not to. :P
I'm not even mad that AI was used in this, the only thing I'm thinking right now is "Damn, this is some sloppy work". cause there is very clearly some manual and intentional edits here. and it just so happens that they did a terrible job editing it.

„If the cover is AI, then so is the rest. Throw it in the trash. 🚮“

Marvel just keeps disappointing...

Apologists: “Maybe it’s hinting a mutant.”

IÄ IÄ THE NIGHT BLACK GOAT WITH A THOUSAND YOUNG!!
Fucker.

The lady with the enormous mouth, not so much...
I could redline an explanation here?
It sucks because you just know some dumb VP paid for a six-figure AI license and is demanding everyone use it to justify the expense.
