Sorry, but there is no "hey, look, we've elected a centrist Democrat and have a Democratic Congress" path back.
We can't fix this by 2028. The world will ask, what about 2032? Or 2036? We've let Trump eclipse any POTUS of my lifetime in the US popular imagination. We seem unstable and unreliable.

This is just common sense. I'm American as apple pie, but I know how bad electing Trump twice *to nonconsecutive terms* looks to almost everyone else on the planet.
It looks really, really bad.

Listen. I'm part of the 92% and that is relevant only within the US context. FAFO only goes far and we don't know yet if someday we'll need to get tf out of Dodge.
I hate to break it to you, but we're about to get a huge and hard international wake up call. It won't be pretty.
It's just that we believe we can fix things by waving a magic wand - "see? we fixed it!" and... it doesn't work that way between individuals OR nations.
If we get out of this now, without suffering any real pain or putting up a Revolutionary War type fight, we will end up here again because of centrists and our repeated inability to punish the racist and rich.
American exceptionalism fades away as of now. If we need to get out of Dodge, that sweet blue passport may look different to countries now that we're moving funny & 80 million voted for this.
We didn't do it, but outside the US, all they see is an American.
'Cept for the 94%! Do what you need to do. Self care, rest. I'm at your service. 💝🌹🍵🍫🍷
Besides, it's not like other developed states don't flirt with this obscenity regularly. What really happened imo was America broke its reliable streak
