People who think they could defeat predatory animals hand to hand are out of their goddamn minds. God save us from men who are like "you just have to take control of the head, and then the wolf is easily subdued"

I saw it pointed out recently that if you actually want to talk about our advantages in the natural world, "six people working together to throw rocks" can overcome any predator, but you never hear guys talk about that because it's not a fantasy of rugged individualism.
I want these guys locked in a room with one pissed off house cat. Sure... eventually a human will win that fight. But they need to reflect on what that fight would he like if it was 600lbs.
there was a dude in my discord who *insisted* that he could beat up a chimpanzee. he left after we all tried to disabuse him of the notion, which was bittersweet by he was an endless font of information about research chemicals
It's so wild - one time I encountered a lost German Shepherd with a collar and tag and when I cautiously approached it, the dog immediately barked and got aggressive and immediately got scared and backed off.
Often think of this story (use 12ft.io to unlock) where a groggy drugged black bear (as in the wimpy North American bear) just awakened from hibernation managed to easily to overpower 4 full grown men before succumbing to the drugs.
I saw a guy claiming his MMA background would help him defeat a tiger, because a tiger’s never felt a kidney punch. I cannot stop imagining a tiger sulkily licking this dude’s blood off, complaining “little fucker hit me right in the kidney! That hurt! …I mean yeah of course I killed him”
it took millions of years of miraculous parallel processes to outgrow Mr. Fistfight A Tiger, and about two decades to give him a podcast. whole species hustling backwards
I loved the one thread of these where there were people who thought they'd defeat a moose. None of those people has ever been in the same zip code as a moose.
some are. we call them hunters and fishers. other humans are less predatory in that sense and instead prefer to restrict the civil rights of other humans as their form of predation.
Imagine a world where human beings broadly had respect for nature instead of actively wanting to fight wild animals or destroy forests for no reason other than "because I can and it makes me look strong and cool"
As time has gone on I've become increasingly anti-anthropocentrist lol. I believe in Sonic CD Good Futureism if anything, like if we are to put technology and shit to good use we should try and find balance and respect with nature rather than trying to conquer/destroy it.
