It's almost like most americans really despise for profit healthcare and that a presidential candidate who made single payer one of his core policies and really hammered the message home could win in a landslide if his campaign wasn't throttled by his own party on purpose

unfortunately, they blow enough money into disinformation & lobbying; that's enough.
Not being able to opt-out (the "mandate") was super unpopular. Being able to opt-out was super unpopular with healthcare-industry (political donors). It's not clear democrats could ever get elected without that support, unfortunately (thanks, Citizens-United).
. . . both parties are just professional stockmen, interviewing for employment by the cattle barons, every few years.
People have also been shown to change their views based on the candidate they prefer. Rather than the other way around.
Granted this is bad but keeping our eyes open to what impediments are is important in strategy
I ended up writing him in anyway.
I learned from that mistake this year and voted Kamala. Sadly, it didn’t matter though.
I don’t know if we’ll ever get both sides to agree on single-payer.

Most Americans despise the status quo but are terrified of change anyway. And then there's the overlap with voters who always vote for racism and tell the media it's about cheaper eggs.
Our election systems are deliberately engineered to be disenfranchising toward progressivism and it's hard enough for people to vote in the general let alone primary, but Democrats revere them as long as they benefit the establishment

There may be more progressives in the country overall but they are not spread out in a way that can help Dems win that way.
tim walz actually rocked though extremely disappointed he’s being painted as a failure even though he was the best part of their campaign
However, when you have word smiths stating that it's "government run" health care, that's when things sour.
Even worse, when society has been reminded that the government has been the problem since 1981.
Sorry to say but a whole lot of the US voter-base are utter imbeciles. Factual and logical causes won't sway them. You have to appeal to their agenda.

More Republican with hand-washing obsessions.
Y'all have tried this "He's not a real Democrat!!" shit for 8 years and haven't yet figured out nobody gives a shit. If anything, not being a literal Democrat is a boon for him.
If Warren caucused Dem and registered independent like Sanders I'd still think she's pretty good for her: policies, rhetoric and track record.
What in the flying fuck does Liz Warren have to do with this conversation??
the healthcare industrial complex.
Try having a longer memory than the average republican. It might come in handy some day.

Me: Um, appointments *here,* in the US, are already MONTHS out, super inefficient, and very expensive.
But ppl think this is better than universal?
There are loads of things we should fix, but let's remove what we can first. Bottleneck theory and whatnot.
Capitalism says to see as many patients in a day as possible for as short a time as possible. That can't be satisfying for the MD / NP / PA / MA either and horrible for patients. Quality HC shouldn't be LEAN. Maybe job satisfaction goes up with UHC.
So basically, I think Democrats should just lie on this issue.
If it were that easy, someone would have done it. Politicians like winning.
They killed JFK because he wanted to get rid of the CIA, IMF, Fed Bank, etc.
There's no way Bernie could've EVER won, I assure you.
That should make you feel somewhat better.
