That's the filter cutoff, so the sensor sees some IR and some visible light.

Ah ok that makes more sense. It passes all colors under 590nm in energy (so red, near infrared, and short-wave infrared). The silicon sensor in your camera can see out to about 1000nm.

950nm is the longest filter I have, and that doesn't have a very different look from 850nm even, just significantly longer exposure times. I know that in photographic terms 1000nm is deep ir but in general spectrometry it's considered fairly shallow.

It's an interesting film that rewards seeing it (Criterion Collection in US) and chasing up the background. The Soviets and the Cubans didn't get on with each other at times during production.

I was interested to discover that IR was not only easy on a digital Fuji X100 but that exposure times were far less than when I was shooting on film. Same expensive (!) IR filter.
