This is very bad. #NHPoli www.nhpr.org/nh-news/2025...

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

Just heard from a friend who is a true hero veteran. His company was destroyed in 30 days by the VA when they canceled 5 contracts without notice. 23 Americans mostly veterans out of work and a veteran owned small business destroyed. For nothing. They're dismantling the VA not "reforming" it.

URGENT: The folks at Americans for Financial Reform are looking for stories from people who’ve been helped by CFPB. Please read this call to action and share far and wide! 🚨 Let’s save CFPB 🚨 Pass it on.

oh wow the future has arrived, move over Pauline Kael

“He visited Dachau and offered a few canned remarks about how inspired he was by the stories of the ‘unspeakable evil’ he witnessed… Then, when his trip to Europe concludes next week, he’ll return to the United States to continue overseeing the construction of internment camps to house migrants.”

Seems clear to me that the Democrats' corporate donor class is DOGE curious. There's not much else that explains it.* (*The lack of institutional backbone or moral compass when faced with actual fascists)

Every union should be echoing this statement.

What these nihilistic vandals are doing to dismantle science & medicine—generations of expertise & public service & life improving benefits—is cultural revolution level national self harm. No foreign foe could inflict such brutal damage & senseless suffering on US so fast & effectively & unresisted.

Unreal. The US government is dumping Asian and African families and children in random countries that they have no connection to. Dumping, not "deporting." Deportation implies the return of a person to their home country. This is treating people like toxic waste. www.cbsnews.com/news/us-depo...

I'm so profoundly grateful to the people who are just plugging away and fighting back in so many different kinds of ways. Bless you.

I resent having to have so much anger in my heart all the time. Because it’s not my default. I’m a happy person by default.

There is so much right now. You can't do everything. But you don't have to. There are a lot of us and we are going to share the load. We make progress *together*. Ask yourself honestly: what can I do to help TODAY? Then do it. Tomorrow, try to do a little more. You got this. ❤️👊

Some have been so numbed to the creep of power that they keep asking what if this turns violent. Friends, it is violent.

Y'all pick a lane. Then make a little progress in your lane each day. Every serious, experienced organizer I know is Doing Their Thing. Instead of freaking out about each bit of bad news, we're in our lanes rapidly building dual power infrastructure and networks that don't rely on the goverment.

Crown shyness is a phenomenon where trees' uppermost branches avoid touching, forming natural negative space

In addition to other sinister motives, attacks on USPS are because it’s a pillar of the black middle class and black labor. As of 2020 postal workers have the highest avg annual wage ($52K) and the highest hourly wage ($25) among the 10 occupations with the heaviest representation of Black workers.

will the horrors never cease

Please arm yourself with knowledge. Birthright citizenship is not a policy choice it is a constitutional imperative (14th Amendment). It can no more be signed away by Executive Order than the First Amendment.

This is one of those examples that illustrates a harm of algorithmic systems that is often invisible—system “predicts” who is likely to miss appointments, and recommends double booking those slots, thus punishing poor people by wasting their time. arstechnica.com/health/2024/...

this bizarre interview with musk’s inconsistent, unreliable father is arguably more illuminating than the entire Isaacson book

Holy fuck, Whole Foods union just dropped. 300 grocery store workers for Whole Foods in Philly are unionizing with UFCW local 1776. As far as I can tell, this is the first organizing effort at a whole foods *store,* ever.

Been a donor since COVID & still am, though I live in France now. I donate b/c I believe news orgs should be un-beholden to corporate interests, & b/c hyperlocal reporting is one of the actual bulwarks against anti-democratic forces, & b/c I <3 NYC. I also rep The City tote bag hard all over Europe.

I feel no need to protect any Democratic sexual predators. This seems like a good deal

This era is strange because it is both socially/culturally regressive, yet technologically accelerationist. Backward + forward at the same time. With human erasure being the goal. I think those interested in cultural preservation, archival work— resisting erasure will be *especially* important.

the thing about life in authoritarian countries is that it goes on billions of people live in the kind of state that we are about to enter we’re going to have to figure out what it looks like here and how to survive it, which will be much harder for some than others help if you can

Biden should commute all federal death sentences. He claims to oppose the death penalty now, the risk of a political backlash is now moot, and it would be a historic, legacy-making move.

Co-sign. Truly transformative in my understanding of how the world works and what my role in it has the possibility to be. Also, very funny.

My grandmother voting for Kamala Harris. Born 1918. 2 years old when the 19th Amendment was ratified. 47 when the Voting Rights Act secured her vote. Will turn 107 on inauguration day. She’s lived through it all, and she’s damn sure not going back.
