This election has changed me. Sick of the uninformed, disinterested American public; the Tiktok brain-rotted youth; people who trash Dems, but never lift a finger to do real community work. Going to build life rafts for those I love and hope the rest of you know how to swim.

If you needed a reason to play (or replay) I Was a Teenage Exocolonist (beyond the overwhelmingly positive rating on Steam 😏), maybe these character designs will convince you?

@proton.me has deleted but here it is in case you’re wondering why you should definitely not trust them with your email

Believing that Republicans will do anything except whatever big businesses want them to do makes you a giant clown-shaped mark. Cancel your Proton subscriptions if you got 'em, folks, these fools cannot be trusted with your data.

How in the hell is @proton.me being led by a straight up maga chud not the biggest news right now.

Tuesday’s filing is the latest development in a larger legal saga over Jefferson's attempt to overturn the results of a fair election that saw Democratic incumbent Allison Riggs win reelection in November. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/north-c...

Reporter Neal Charnoff's is among the 60,000 votes that NC Supreme Court candidate Judge Jefferson Griffin and his Dowling Firm attorneys challenged after he lost the November election to Justice Allison Riggs. Charnoff called a lawyer. www.wunc.org/2025-01-13/w...

🚨MAGA Republican seeks to throw away the votes of 60,000 North Carolinians to overturn a free and fair election. Justice Allison Riggs won the NC Supreme Court race by 734 votes. This should make your blood boil. www.newsobserver.com/news/politic...

Why are people still operating their groups/organizations only on FB?

Just so we are clear, Griffin wants the same 5-2 GOP-majority court he lost the election for a seat on to throw out legal votes so he can join it anyway. This is where Trump’s influence has brought us. Democracy and ethics are irrelevant and only power matters #ncpol

When did people stop turning on their lights when driving in the rain? Your silver suv is invisible in the mist, buddy.

The chatbot isn't admitting anything. It's like a parrot that's been trained to say "please don't kill me." It's just making noises, it isn't actually communicating with you

And what I want, right now, as a Democrat, is a scorched earth strategy. I don’t want any cooperation with these fucking traitors. I want Sherman through South Carolina energy. I want Republicans to regret ever hearing the name Donald Trump, let alone nominating him.

This new year, all your failed resolutions will be forgiven if you just stop rage boosting outrage farm articles from the NYT and their brethren, please I am begging you, the clicks and shared anger none of them are worth any of it

“Hopefulness is hard-earned, makes demands upon us, and can often feel like the most indefensible and lonely place on Earth. Hopefulness is not a neutral position either. It is adversarial. It is the warrior emotion that can lay waste to cynicism.” Nick Cave

Can't wait to get back into sourdough so I can fuss over a tempermental creature to bake bread my family won't eat. My hair shirt for 2025.

Once again, we should *reject* claims that people are frothing at the mouth for AI when consumers have no exit (tech is monopolistic) and no voice (there is no way to opt out)

Top three Christmas movies: Muppet Christmas Carol, The Ref, Gremlins.

Republicans fail to pass a bill to keep the government open that they negotiated with themselves after detonating a bipartisan deal that they had negotiated with Democrats

Important for NC voters to understand these details - because trying to throw out more than 60,000 votes because you lost an election is shameful. And people should not be misled by Griffin into thinking these were unlawful votes. #ncpol

Reading a book about smallpox with my kid and apparently people at the time claimed the vaccine caused children to develop cow-like features. So really, the QAnon guy at my dojo was carrying on a legacy by claiming the covid vax causes mutations.

If Griffin can get the court to throw out 60,000 votes, but only for his race, we simply won't have a democracy in this state anymore, particularly since the issue here is that these people did not include a requirement in their registration forms *which wasn't required when they registered*.

🚨There is a five alarm fire happening in NC right now. In a truly outlandish move, Jefferson Griffin has now taken his attack on voters one step further. 🧵

You can tell no one read the article because the headline is much more committed than any of the quotes from the *check notes* 2 elected democrats actually quoted in this

In case any of my fellow creatives also needed this reminder:

Some concerns about hope being placed in Fukuyama after listening to Michael and Peter's episode on If Books Could Kill.

What’s happening in NC should be much bigger scandal: gerrymandered GOP legislature stripping power from Dem gov & AG in lame-duck session while Rs trying to throw out 60k votes to overturn Dem victory in state Supreme Court race www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Since everyone’s finding old and new friends, take a moment to read my story, I’m a 32yo polio survivor because I was not vaccinated. Pass on my story, repeat it, tell it to any vaccine hesitate parent. No kid deserves vaccine preventable diseases www.voicesforvaccines.org/as-a-polio-s...

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record. They run them bc people react to them the most. If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change. It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

Republicans are trying to steal a seat on the North Carolina Supreme Court by throwing out more than 60,000 lawful votes. You won't see this in the legacy media, but we are shining a light on this. Watch and share my interview with Democratic Justice Allison Riggs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=54Dg...

I think it is pretty important for folks to absorb the difference between "we might not be able to stop him from doing this" and "we can't do anything." You can slow it down, fight it in the courts, shape public opinion and draw attention to raise the political cost and so on.

Dear BBC, please do not call anti-vaxxers “vaccine sceptics”. It implies there exists doubt about vaccines. 70-odd years ago we had large numbers of people paralysed or in iron lungs. We don’t see that today and for that we can thank the Salk vaccine.

You can love bad people, but your loving them does not make them good.

This story about Trump’s Surgeon General pick is WILD, particularly the way it was reported giving a massive side-eye to the many holes in the case of how she claims she accidentally shot her sleeping father in the head. Read Dan’s whole thread. Paywall-free article: archive.ph/2024.12.06-2...

I don't know who needs to know this, but Pro Publica has an online thing that will format a letter to your US health insurance company to demand the records behind a claim denial. (which the insurance is then legally required to provide in most cases) projects.propublica.org/claimfile/
