They can’t be legally changed by congress - there isn’t enough votes for that

In the UK. Why is Fetterman supporting Trump these days. Genuine question. Is Pennsylvania really red these days and that’s the reason?

Are they responding to the economy tanking?

Why is this being framed like it would be the Democrats fault that the Republicans can’t rally their own caucus to vote for it?
comment in response to

They are still the majority, even if it is razor thin. Their fault if their own members don’t support it.

In UK and looked forward to my night time listening to 538 podcasts. A terrible decision. Thank you. Good luck to you all

I’m a listener from England. Galen and all the rest of the team, you’ve been my nighttime listening for years. Thank you and good luck.

The American public are not telling opinion pollsters how disgusted they are with Trump and Vance

Why is that not the headline!!

Looking from across the pond with friends in VA - The opinion polls are saying Trump is popular. No real mention of protests in Washington post or NYT today from the weekend. Congress either not receiving or ignoring public response. How are people supposed to know?

I'm not there defender but a friend flagged because we were both surprised they covered it. I haven't read it so I can't say how well

Why do the Washington Post and New York Times not cover these events?

When will the New York Times call it a constitutional crisis?
comment in response to

Oh, well that’s ok then, isn’t it? Being popular is the only criteria really, not following the constitution or silly things like that

They do - all the time. Why does that make cannabis harmless?

No, there is only one true wolf. The one who wants to organise by genre, author & number in series.
The other wolf is just weird.

So much for Democrats slowing down the process and being unified against Trump

They can. They can stop voting for Trump nominees for no reason. They can shout vocally, all the time, in plain English, what Trump is doing - everywhere. Podcasts, newspapers, media of any kind. They can implement law suits. They can stop cooperating in congress with Republicans for long weekends

How did Tommy Tuberville do it for so long then?

Why did democrats vote for ANY of Trumps nominees? That’s the point. Be united against him. Why can’t they do that?

“That was when they suspended the Constitution. They said it would be temporary. There wasn't even any rioting in the streets. People stayed home at night, watching television, looking for some direction”

Watching from across the pond, and baffled why Americans and Democratic opposition are doing nothing

It’s weird to watch what is happening in America. The press just calmly reporting the chaos that is happening like it isn’t even happening to them

Why? Seriously why? I dong get why Democrats are not doing everything they can against Trump. It is completely bizarre how disinterested the American people are

It’s just bizarre how Democrats and their voters, are allowing Schumer to cut deals like this. Why aren’t they fighting everything? McConnell showed them how to do it yet they do nothing. I’m baffled as to why.

It’s just weird to watch from another country, what Trump is allowing Musk to do and Democrats are just making high minded statements rather than doing what they can to stop him.

And still you will get democratic senators voting for RFK Jr. why don’t they fight back with the only power they have?
comment in response to

But they are, aren’t they? It’s being allowed to happen.
comment in response to

Now if they don’t, they have to do it when Trump is President. Yet another thing they wanted to happen under Biden so he could take the blame

Frightening how little attention Americans pay to what is happening in their own country
