Lincoln put it best: “Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid…When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocrisy.”

Am I the only one noting that after demonizing China for years, Trump seems to be letting them off lightly, while going full tilt against Canada? Is it Musk's business interests? Have Chinese players been buying Trumpcoin?

Donald Trump, Jr., Eric Trump, and Ivanka Trump have never been hired for their abilities or on merit. It's always been because they have a rich Daddy, which is also how their own father "qualified" for all of his first jobs.

Worried about our nation’s descent into fascism? This one pot cacio e pepe will make you feel like you’re in 1920s Italy.

I've built a machine that can be Confidently Wrong. It can also make pictures that all look a bit the same, as well as make a video of you kissing any celebrity or person you know. In payment, I'd like to boil the world's oceans dry, & steal all literature. For some reason, my head is not on a spike

Truly incredible that Trump launches a crypto shitcoin just before taking office as a direct-deposit bribery account, receives tens of billions from individuals (and likely foreign entities)… and all those right wingers who were mad about Hunter Biden are dead silent. Tread on me Daddy, indeed.

This is a beautiful tribute.

Meteorologists say the Los Angeles fires were caused by drought and gale-force winds. But a growing mass of X users suspect a different cause: DEI.

Recently re-watched the John Oliver piece on misinformation, and the part about "Meta spent ~10X as much effort and money tamping down English-language misinfo as they did Spanish-language misinfo" feels to me like it may have explained a lot about voting patterns in the last election.

Does anyone have a contact for Ann ? Would love to discuss with her the possibility of partnering with her to publish her cartoons exclusively on @bluesky

I know that there's a lot of tech industry folks on this here website, and I would just like to remind all of you that the world actually functioned before the computer.

Americans are ~2.5x more likely to die in a crash than a Canadian, ~3.5x more likely than a Spaniard, and ~5x more likely than a Japanese person. Here are a few of the articles I wrote in 2024 trying to understand why the US is uniquely terrible at road safety. 🧵

This guy is stark raving mad. Hopefully President Musk will ignore his ravings paulkrugman.substack.com/p/trumps-gre...
