Yesterday the Trump administration took aim at @thekrebscycle.bsky.social and @sentinelone.com over Trump's longstanding beef with Krebs saying the 2020 election was legitimate. So @raphae.li asked more than 30 major cybersecurity firms and trade groups what they had to say. Here's how it went:

I'm laughing so hard at this email from the place I ordered transformers for my kid last year

maybe he'll explain, but people have been sent to El Salvador for less

Hello, CIR is hiring our next Editorial Fellowship class—we're looking for smart and curious early-career journalists to join us for a yearlong crash course in fact-checking investigative journalism. I did it, it's a great program. And now a union gig w/ benefits motherjones.com/careers/fellowships/

Striking that there was no local press present, as far as I could tell. I only covered for @motherjones.com bc I was visiting home. How many other towns had protests that weren't covered? The decimation of local journalism will obscure mass mobilization to Trump. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Reupping this story which has J6ers who went to fundraiser where acting US Attorney Ed Martin compared their prosecution to the internment of Japanese Ameriricans during WWII hopping mad. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Adorable. The Boston ducks have protest signs #handsoff

"I would just like to go back...to having professionals run our country." Americans nationwide are exercising their right to free speech and assembly to resist and oppose Donald Trump's wake of destruction. WATCH:

I’m at the protest in DC today, talking to protestors. Here are the personal stories I learned the most from.

A couple hours until I head out to the #handsoff protest in SF but colleagues are already in DC, NYC, New Haven, St Petersburg, San Leandro, and a bunch of other places. Follow @motherjones.com.

Our @clinthendler.bsky.social was in New Haven, Connecticut, at the town green and captured this short video showing the stream of people at the #HandsOff rally there—despite the patchy weather.

A bit cloudy, but still feels like a huge turnout here on the New Haven, Connecticut town green.

Kelly Meggs was not just convicted of sedition, he was adjudged to be a terrorist (he got a terrorism enhancement). The acting US Attorney for DC is, quite literally, palling around with a terrorist.

With tariffs, Trump is trading a strong economy for one run on loyalty and retribution. Tariffs scale his weaponization of government across the entire economy, with waivers for loyalists. But history shows that an economy run on favors is ultimately a poor one. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

If Trump is willing to hurt the economy, he must be getting something he wants even more in return. That thing is power. With tariffs, Trump can exercise a kind of corruption that the country hasn’t experienced in some 150 years. Read @pemalevy.bsky.social.

There should be no pussyfooting around on this by the MSM. The tariff stories we need aren't that the tariffs will cause hardship and make no economic sense. We know. The important story is one of rising corruption, and a wannabe mob boss who can be stopped only if ppl & civic leaders fight back.

a highly unusual situation where people are furious at a politician for not lying to them

If you thought Brexit was the best example of a nation committing collective national suicide you would ever see…you were wrong.

Proud of journalists & outlets still standing up to power in the face of threats while Big Law, corporations, and other institutions capitulate: Wired, Mother Jones, Rolling Stone, Miami Herald, Techdirt, Marisa Kabas, the Unpoulist, ProPublica, MSNBC. (Feel free to add others in replies)

"This is some of the finest journalism I've read in the Trump era so far," says @chrislhayes.bsky.social on @motherjones.com's reporting on the Trump admin deporting people to El Salvador, and in one case, over an autism awareness tattoo.

Weird!

The Promise

I can feel myself growing desensitized to news stories that would once dominate news cycles, but I can now tell will barely register a blip. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

How much of the GOP's capitulation to Trump is politics, and how much is the threat of violence? US Capitol Police data I obtained shows that threats against lawmakers doubled in January and February www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

SCOOP: Hooded ICE agents snatched Indian-born Georgetown postdoc Badar Suri from Rosslyn street Monday, per court filing. Like Khalil, linked to pro-Palestinian views & Rubio 'foreign policy' power, lawyer says. Then whisked to Louisiana. w/ @kyledcheney www.politico.com/news/2025/03...

They claim they can snatch people up, put them on planes, and deport them to a country run by an authoritarian, where those people will be forced to work slave labor at an inhumane prison. All without due process, and in defiance of federal courts. The hypotheticals are over. This is the nightmare.

This suit “hits upon the lawless absurdity of these developments: the legally unfounded DOGE is seizing a congressionally approved and funded agency, with leadership appointed according to the law, and destroying it without any legal justification or authority.” www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Intelligence community chatrooms like those that Rufo posted leaks from yesterday—leading 100+ folks being fired, seemingly for talking about their experiences as trans women—have long been widely used for "inappropriate" convos on social & political issues, per a 2021 Inspector General report.

Notice how these cats are already talking about it as a done deal. There’s no “attempted,” no “sought to,” no “whether the press corps will comply is unclear” in the social copy.

I don't really use the term "propaganda" lightly, but I think we should outline what's happening at the White House and elsewhere: the rise of a new state media. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

You really have no idea where this corporate press release will end up, I encourage you to read the whole thing www.prnewswire.com/news-release...

Apparently it's possible to shame the author of "How to Fight Anti-Semitism" into deleting her tweet promoting the article she published, written by a white supremacist, defending "ironic" Nazi salutes

Hi! I'm an immigration reporter with Mother Jones magazine. I'm hoping to connect with former and current EOIR employees about policy and personnel changes happening at the agency. We can talk off the record or on background. Please reach out at [email protected] or isabeladias.14 on Signal.

This Berenstain Bears lunchbox from 1993 captures a simpler time, before internet misinformation and social media, when the family computer primarily provided us with incomplete jigsaw puzzles, treble clefs, apples, and live fish

incredible exchange, @marisakabas.bsky.social

andrew is the worst cuomo but astonishingly only a mid-tier kennedy

🧵 Before saying "why isn't the media covering this?" Consider... 1. We may be working on it. B4 we can hit "publish", we need to either get the intel from public records requests OR internal sources. I've submitted ~6 FOIA requests in the last 3 days. FOIAs can take weeks/months to fulfill...

Was literally talking to the union representing federal air traffic controllers earlier today about how there’s already a major shortage of air traffic controllers and the resignation offers they all just got from OPM could seriously endanger public safety.

Trump's pick for Deputy Transportation Secretary wrote key memos justifying waterboarding and other barbaric interrogation tools for George W. Bush. John McCain once called these documents "permission slips for torture.” www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Note that Donald Trump thinks that Karoline Leavitt, who hid the full extent of her campaign finance debt for years and who had ties to convicted fraudster Guo Wengui, is worthy of security clearance, but not military hero Mark Milley. Here's her tie to Wengui. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

weak. insecure. provincial. frankly, it's Boston behavior.

I still don't think there's enough discussion of the absolutely insanity of the president -- hours before leaving office -- granting a blanket, unconditional pardon for *any possible crime* that the country's top military officer might have committed over a 10-year period.

NEW @motherjones.com: Meet the 71-year-old insurrectionist rejecting Trump’s pardon @pamhemphill53.bsky.social told me this morning that taking a pardon “would be a slap in the face to the Capitol Police, the rule of law, and to our nation.” More here ⬇️ www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

been staring at this for a while

he did that salute with every fiber of his being too. hasn't put that much heart into anything since the last time he disowned a kid.

"to the best of my ability" never jumped out at me quite like it did today. Some real heavy lifting in that phrase.
