They did not have the votes. They still don’t. Can they deny unanimous consent? Yes, and I agree they should. But they literally never had the votes, which is why the argument is the same. They didn’t have the votes. Manchin, Fetterman, and Sinema at the least were spoiler candidates.

The Senate is controlled 52-48. Dems cared too much about rules when they held a 50:50 chamber (but still didn’t really have control due to Manchin and Sinema). What exactly are you suggesting they do when they *don’t have the votes*? You know how they would have had the votes in the Senate?

She’s not running for re-election, Russian bot.

You know that Articles come from the House, not the Senate? Not saying the House shouldn’t be doing that, but it’s also not going to matter. Johnson wont let them go for a vote, they’d fail even if he did, and we won’t get hearings. Dems should be doing more, but voters shouldn’t have stayed home.

I’m happy that I say this as a proud constituent and Ilhan Omar voter- Kamala did not lose Minnesota.

Bloomberg shows their entire ass here by complying with the fascists, referring to the Gulf of Mexico as MAGA’s dog whistle.

You’re not very good at understanding how audits work, are you?

Just cut his mic and drop the video. Let him scream into an empty box for none to watch. Stop playing their games. They want the outrage coverage.

My spouse is a vet in their final semester of grad school to become a clinical social worker. They want to work at the VA to provide therapy to other vets. You’re not alone, you’re aspirational. Keep being you and don’t let the bullshit slow you down.

Who would indict him?

Right- the Confederates were only removed from power by the end of the Civil War. Nazis in Germany were removed by the resolution of WWII. My point is that fascists don’t allow elections to be the reason they give up power.
comment in response to post
In your understanding of history, when have Nazis been elected out of power?
comment in response to post
My understanding, as well as the SoS and the MN SC is that there’s no quorum, so it doesn’t seem like there’s any legitimacy to the MN ~~Fascists~~ Republicans’ efforts
comment in response to post
Sorry, I think we all got off on the wrong foot here. An outcome fascists enjoy and we should be quick to remedy for our own sakes’. Hope both of you stay healthy and have good fortune in the battles to come.

Spoiler, it won’t just be us getting fucked. Your dad might not have said anything racist, but if he didn’t have any issue voting Republican then he’s enabled racists and shouldn’t be surprised to share their take in the blame. Silence lends power to oppression, it isn’t enough to “not be racist”.
comment in response to post
Sorry you had to learn your dad is a racist

Y’all the MN State Dem party pushed a lot of progressive policies in the last few years. Walz had help enacting free lunch for schools, recreational cannabis, enshrined abortion access, and more. Hope Ken Martin can bring that same energy to the national stage

Hey jackass, that’s because the legislative branch, Congress, dictates how these funds should be spent, not the executive branch. The executive is simply supposed to carry out the legislative directive. This is overtly illegal and suggesting otherwise broadcasts how little you understand the process

Brain imagery in general triggers some ptsd for me, so its “awful taste, great execution” territory for me
comment in response to post
As someone who once worked for Congressman Walz, he is truly one in a million. He’s stayed consistent to his values and acts in the interest of his constituents as best he can. Truly blessed to call him Governor for at least 2 more years.

A few years ago I worked in restoration and was the lead on cleaning a shotgun suicide of a high school kid. It left me with PTSD I’ll never fully recover from and hampered my ability to bake or cook with certain ingredients, including eggs. It’s not that I blame the kid, but suicide hurts so many.

I do understand ;) It’s a shame that written content is being phased out, articles are much better for spoilers. I know you write well (many content creators do!) and I think my old timer trait is that I prefer reading at my pace than listening/watching someone dance around the spoiler for views.
comment in response to post
Yes, this!! I also hate when spoilers are locked behind a video. I get it, the creator wants you to watch to see their spoiler. I don’t want to watch. Forcing me to watch for a spoiler will more likely result in me ignoring it until it is everywhere else.

No idea if true, but I read this morning there is (was?) a French monastery where the monks took a vow of silence which they only broke to let the monastery cats know it was feeding time. I think it’s a cute story, so I’m choosing to believe it

Wouldn’t even categorize it as dirty. They’re using the legislative methods available to highlight the lawlessness of the GOP. Denying quorum is clever and exactly what decently demands. GOPers should be happy- don’t they believe life is better without functioning government anyway?

Trump is either an existential threat to democracy or he is not. There is no working across the aisle with someone who threatens and uses violence in attempt to retain power. Fetterman should be ashamed- every Member of Congress offeribg bipartisanship normalizes this felon’s treasonous actions.

Damn, looking outside my Minneapolis window all I see is a beautiful city welcoming bright young minds from across the country as they flee conservative policy in action. Makes sense why Republicans don’t want their constituents to know the grass is actually greener here in the land of 10k lakes.

That’s.. not what mandate means in American political subculture. They aren’t talking about a Mandate of Heaven, they’re literally talking about voters and demographics. Not every president has a mandate- some barely get elected. Politicians alone didn’t make up these words, those study them assist.
comment in response to post
The word in this context might be tied more to American political subculture than anything to do with what the word actually means. Obama had a mandate when he was first elected because he brought with him sweeping gains across both chambers of Congress. Trump did not win a “mandate” in that context

People live in fear of a card easily bested by proper deck construction. Yes, I consider it when building and yes, I’ve played it in a casual deck. Sometimes overcoming adversity makes a great story, and isn’t that what we’re playing EDH to create?

Oh hey! I don’t play much MtG out in public spaces, but I’ve been trying to get more Star Wars Unlimited under my belt. My wife is in grad school for one more semester so hopefully it will be a little easier to get out and about once she’s finished up, too

Lost my job January 2024, caused our family to move to Minneapolis from rural Iowa. Spent half the year unemployed and the most depressed I’ve ever been. Saw a therapist, got a job, found a house, and we are now living #BetterDaysMTG as we move into 2025. So happy to be a Minnesotan again.

Not authorizing the NDAA and blocking more fascist attempts to strip rights from citizens? Sounds like a win-win to me.

Would rather have seen money given to departments with a specific use to hire social workers, people actually trained to help those in crisis, instead of officers too scared and eager to offer quick, permanent solutions.

I was so happy to see your name in the foreword! I didn’t know you were involved, but I’ve been a fan of your voice in the MtG community for a long time.
