If there was a mini league from Brentford game until the end of season, where do you think we’ll end up?
I’ve got this feeling we might have top 2 form between then and the end.

This is where most of my Spurs circle are at. It’s a 50% split on those Ange in / out but everyone understands each’s rationale, there isn’t a right or wrong.
I’m Ange in for the obvious, I’d also just quite like to see the club act differently to the last 3, let’s get to a cleaner review point.

I think it’s reasonable to say on review Ange isn’t a coach equipped to have dealt with our crisis but I also don’t think there’s a manager that is who is also a long term play for us. I just believe that this is an incredibly rare mess we’re all having to suffer, incl Ange.

Pretty sure Ange said he would need another 7-10 days in his pre match presser Wednesday.

Agree on majority of those aspects. There’s plenty of talking on the pitch but having such a young / new / put together backline is hampering us
I agree with the pod, think those things are better nurtured and developed rather than bought. Unless of course we sell Romero, then I’d want a exp CB in.

I do understand it but, genuine question, what acts of leadership would you like to see? I think it’s just your best players fulfilling their role to the max is the best form of leadership within football.

Think it was clear and completely agree. The match is only 90-minutes, the leaders will be far more influential over the course of the week than the actual game. Game management expertise I think is what we’re needing to continue develop, think we have a great crop of characters.

That’s a lovely little graph.
If we are working on the trio of Son, Odobert and Moore having LW well stocked next season, my RW preferences from premier league of ‘obvious’ players would be, in no order;
Mbuemo
Fatawu
Bowen
Semenyo
Elanga

Fair play to the club, Ange’s obvious first request was a GK and to land one way better than any predicted within 5-days is applaudable.
Hopefully he delivers short and long term, I’m excited.

Fair enough. Just came to mind when thinking who might be available in Jan.
Look forward to your vid.

Tomori a possible option? Don’t watch a lot of Seria A but always liked what I’ve seen of him when I have watched him and heard he may be available?

No real summary on this, personally wanted to see how we look against other squads rather than this mythical perfect squad.
With regard to squad building, in our 2nd season, I don’t think it’s been as horrific as some say. On paper at least. Couple new wingers and depth upgrades and we’ll be close.

ATTACKERS
Obvious difference top teams don’t have a below average player.
I really feel Odobert and Richi would have been contributors to us if not for injuries, we clearly tried to deal Richi with the worry his season may play out the way it has.

MIDFIELDERS
A few teams have gone for quantity here whilst others like Arsenal and Liverpool have a slightly smaller selection but higher quality across all players.
Only few teams with a top 6. Are we able to upgrade Biss & Bentancur to be more impressive here. On paper, think we stand up.

DEFENDERS
Think our 2 top CBs compare well against the best in the division. Arsenal clearly the strongest and most the others have a better 3rd choice to us.
WBs Liverpool have what looks the perfect balance, others also with arguably better rotation but limitations / drop offs to all?

Goalkeepers;
Can’t say I know much about many of the other teams back-ups, a couple standouts at Liverpool, City and likely Chelsea. Forster similar level to most others? 🤷🏼♂️
A clear position of need but think people over estimate the value teams put in that role, it’s a tough gig.

Good effort taking the time to write & sharing, a decent read. Very easy to understand your current thoughts
I just want a 3-month period with no more than the avg squad disruption or more depth to really gauge as just think it’s almost impossible to know what we’ve got with him. I remain hopeful.

This is the problem for like 50% of our current starting 11. They aren’t elite enough to standout for 8 games a month, but if they could play every other they can still be quality; perfect squad players you could say;
Biss / Bentancur / Maddison / Son / Johnson all immediately come to mind.

Look forward to reading it. Carl on Fighting Cock said he wants Ange given 3 years regardless of it got really really bad simply due to us not having a manager for a sustained period and to see what if. This mirrors my view, if we’re not going to give a good guy + attacking style that, who will we.

I truly believe we’d have still had a progressive 3-years for the club in getting back our identity and the real pallet cleanser we’ve needed and the next guy has a hellova better place to work from than Ange did. If they binned him without a real catastrophe season, I’d worry nothing changed.

Amen. Heard @windycoys.bsky.social on the latest Extra Inch, what if it doesn’t all come to fruition when the squad is fit and deeper. I think we need conviction to see this 3-year cycle through rather than worry about what if. Not because I’m certain of ‘success’ but I hope we’re now on a path.

Fairly even with them having the better of the chances. We would have but our passing / ball retention final third has been poor. A lot of poor technical errors from us halting any real domination, front 3 in particular been disappointing.

Away from your data research, I think the key line on the subject here is that teams at top of table play a higher avg defensive line. If all the successful teams of last decade + play that way why would you aim for anything different when you have aspirations of competing.

Been some really high highs already this year and cups are all in play. League has been hugely frustrating but start of season we were playing really well with a full squad so confident see that again.
This season is far from a write off yet! Fully expect us to get whacked tomorrow though 😅

Chelsea fans have been hating life under Boehly until this season but his volume of spending and the way he’s gone about it, especially around PSR rules, is the only sort of thing I think would appease people. £300m a year for a few years, make or break the club type gamble.

Saw a rumour, quickly dispelled, Jerry Jones the Cowboys owner was linked with a purchase. It’s shit like that which scares me.
I’m not massively Levy in but I’m very wary of who’s next. Wouldn’t be a manger 2-4 year stint we’d be committing to, would be the next 20. Imagine they’re really shit.

I’m starting to feel slightly perverse about my mindset. I almost want to see how much darkness I can get through whilst staying with Ange as I feel so strongly that if the club also sticks with it, the other side will be the true glory days of my 25 year fandom.

Fully agree with this. You give Ange comparable squads, of which we are maybe only 3-4 players away and I really see us having legit chance to be at the same level. Whilst we’re on the journey to that, let’s just enjoy the positive / proactive football we get majority of the time.

Would point to strong systems in place and as you say, personnel the missing piece to see truly get the results those metrics deserve. I don’t believe the personnel is in the current squad so patience is still needed.

The prem has become such a high stress environment for us now we’re decent these days these group games feel like rare ‘free to enjoy’ games and I think Ange’s done a great job setting us up with team selections to play well but also rotating. Knockout stage will be diff but I’m loving my Thursdays.

I disagree as I’m loving being in Europa again. It’s bonkers. Each game so far apart from AZ has been pretty wild and it’s just fun watching that sort of football without the high pressure jeopardy of every result is critical. We’re at right level of comp for us atm and players are getting minutes.
