We have every right to speak out, and we will, and we will not be stopped until there is change. 💙 #RESIST

We the people are taking action to stop a hostile government takeover. On April 5, 5.2 million people across the country stood up to say HANDS OFF our democracy! Save the date for our next national day of action on April 19th. #50501movement #PeoplesMovement #FiftyFiftyOne #April5 #HandsOff

TODAY WE MOBILIZED OVER 3 MILLION PEOPLE ACROSS THE NATION!!! This movement has entered the next chapter: the people will mobilize again, and again, until we make a difference. It only takes 3.5% of the population in a sustained resistance in order to make a difference. #50501movement

Hola Cielo Azul. I attended the 50501 protest rally in Santa Cruz Ca today. Adios…

The island with no fucks to give.

Speaker Johnson appears to have deleted this tweet over the last half hour.

You stupid, fucking idiotic MAGAts voted for that decrepitly senile orange piece of shit, now we SANE, INTELLIGENT Americans have to deal with it. I hope you fuckers LOSE everything. Especially in those broke ass, welfare ridden red states.

This is injecting bleach for the entire global economy. And he's not just floating the idea: he's holding the syringe.

It’s still hard to believe the simple fact that this is all self-imposed. Everything that’s happening right now wasn’t the result of some foreign adversary destroying the country. We did this all to ourselves by electing the dumbest motherfucker to ever rule a nation.

I don’t do this often and promise not to make a habit of it, but just this once: WE TRIED TO WARN YOU!!!!!

Yay! Here’s an example of how to work to save our democracy.

Kudos to Senator Cory Booker. 25 hour 4 minute filibuster on Senate floor. He’s an example for us to go above & beyond to save our democracy.

I'm thinking about a quote by British author Elizabeth Bibesco in 1934, amid Hitler's growing horrors: “The Nazi regime benefits from the fact that its atrocities overstep the limits of credibility.” Today, many Americans suffer from that same failure of imagination. It could be fatal.

Darby Saxbe tells it like it is. Time to get busy & stop kidnappings by the US government

When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

EXCLUSIVE: Tonight at the Kennedy Center, Guster brought on cast members from Finn, an LGBTQ+ kids musical that was recently canceled when Trump took over the center. They performed the band’s song “Hard Times” to a standing ovation. Full story, exclusive quotes and video on The Handbasket:

The illegal abduction of Rumeysa Ozturk and the Puppy Assassin's concentration camp tiktok are as significant US legacies for the 21st century as the Marshall Plan was for the 20th. This is simply who we are as a nation and who we will remain unless the populace forcefully rejects it.

I think there is going to be a Red Rural Recession and soon if all the cuts continue as is All the firings, cancelling of grants and contracts with companies , the closing of offices, disproportionately impact small towns, cities and states. Their finances will be turned upside

It doesn't bode well for the US that the leaders of the intelligence community are such bad liars.

It’s worth stating this simply: For literally anyone in the US Govt from 1945 to 2025, Signalgate would require an instant resignation—and a criminal investigation. It would be a matter of personal *honor* to resign. The fact Mike Waltz & Pete Hegseth are choosing to fight it out is a terrible omen.

A thing that hits so hard is just how many of the Admin’s arguments are just transparently bad faith. This is the branch charged with faithfully executing our laws…they are making a mockery of the entire system.

This is what happens when you have an entire cabinet full of folks who would NEVER pass a regular security clearance. Led by a president who would never be able to pass one either.

Mike Waltz has now decided to roll out the story that Jeffrey Goldberg somehow hacked his way into their Signal chat. Just admitting a mistake and apologizing seems like a lot less work than lying and peddling a half dozen different conspiracies.

The White House is saying the information shared in the Signal group chat was “not classified.” They’re lying. Those who’ve served in uniform know it would’ve been classified. We’re calling for an investigation and accountability.

Was just reading John Quincy Adams' oral arguments before SCOTUS in the Amistad case and this part seems, uh, pretty relevant

Wow- in response to questioning from Sen. Jack Reed, Tulsi Gabbard just testified that she was overseas while participating in the signal chat on bombing Yemen. He followed up by asking whether she was using a personal phone for the conversation and she refused to answer. Seems bad!

Every night @maddow.msnbc.com has a first segment that runs through protests and town halls held in last 24 hrs and if you are feeling like nobody is feeling like you feel or you don’t know what to do: start by watching these and then find your people in your area. They are everywhere.

"Still, the two officials told me that—unless the story truly snowballs in the days ahead—Trump is unlikely to push out his national security adviser. Optics, and not national security, are paramount in Trump’s reasoning. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

“I am failing at the core functions of my position” would not be the defense at any business or other private organization, nor in any previous U.S. government. Congress doesn’t have to accept it. Doing so is a choice.

Signal's end-to-end encryption is useless if one end (someone's phone) has been hacked. It is, however, good for hiding stuff from public records laws. This is a huge scandal.

Meiselas: Steve Witkoff, was allegedly in Moscow while he was on this group chat. Do you believe the Russians now have all of that information and potentially more? Rice: Well, yes—the Russians have whatever Witkoff was doing or saying on his personal cell phone. The Russians undoubtedly have it.
