Mister Rogers “often said that anything human is mentionable, & anything mentionable is manageable. That is an especially helpful reminder in moments I know are designed to provoke fear. The abduction of Rumeysa Ozturk is such a moment.”—From here, @daultradio.bsky.social pivots to…Gilles Deleuze? 🤔

The contempt they have for disabled children is rooted in a mistaken belief that there aren't too many of them. Estimates show that between 1-in-8 and 1-in-5 students in America have some kind of learning disability. There are an awful lot of SPED families out here, and we will *fight* this shit.

“When the state begins to treat moral concern as criminal intent, we should all be paying close attention.” @daviddark.bsky.social open.substack.com/pub/daviddar...

Rumeysa Ozturk must not be deported. You can't kidnap someone off the street for their political views — this isn't Moscow. She has every right to speak her mind. I've contacted the Administration. I want answers.

"I’d like to think that what comes next...is a society of consent, where the violence embodied by that man who grabbed Rumeysa Ozturk might be interrupted at the source...as we are attempting to interrupt it now. @daultradio.bsky.social www.christiancentury.org/features/con...

My good friend @daultradio.bsky.social offers this reflection on the outrageous abduction and disappearance of Rumeysa Ozturk and the larger questions of these times for believers @christiancentury.bsky.social. www.christiancentury.org/features/con...

“I’m trained as a philosopher, so in moments like this, I turn to philosophy for help.” – @daultradio.bsky.social www.christiancentury.org/features/con...

Thank you @christiancentury.bsky.social for welcoming my words today. I am grateful. https://www.christiancentury.org/features/consent-outrage-and-abduction-rumeysa-ozturk

In the space of one week, the Trump administration has claimed that: - attack plans of an air strike are *not* state secrets - the details of the kidnapping and rendition of some 300 people to a private prison in El Salvador without due process absolutely *are* state secrets Think about that.

It seems really bad when one of the attorneys that investigated Russian war crimes turns up dead.

So look at that. DOGE has cost the US Treasury fucking half a trillion dollars. HALF A TRILLION DOLLARS. This is your cost savings.

The instruction to surrender was conveyed by defendants’ (DOJ) lawyers. They ordered his deportation because he filed this suit.

Sometimes it’s worth pausing and recognizing when he puts a new straight-up impeachable offense on the pile

LA Times argues green card holders do not get Constitutional rights because they aren't citizens This is the same fascist logic used to lock up Japanese Americans, deny Jewish refugees, & commit genocide against Black & Indigenous peoples. I debunk with receipts www.qasimrashid.com/p/debunking-...

I hope someone has the good sense to scuttle the US nuclear arsenal, because at this point, it is no longer under civilian control. https://youtu.be/ZlLv_EIL9OE?si=qItLtpbi4V9mbC5g

So tired. Just mentally and physically exhausted.

Mahmoud Khalil should be at home with his pregnant wife. Instead, he's been illegally abducted & had his constitutional right to free speech & due process stripped. We're demanding his immediate release and we cannot allow this abuse of power to go unchecked. #FreeMahmoudKhalil

re the previous repost: if they can disappear permanent residents they can disappear citizens

Yes. If DHS can barge in, say your visa was revoked, be told you have a green card, say it's revoked too, and then disappear you so that neither your lawyer nor your family can find you, then all the guardrails are gone. There is no policy, practice, or law protecting anyone.

This is what criminalization does - the scope has simply expanded - and why we all need to be putting refusal and resistance to criminalization at the center of our anti authoritarian/antifascist struggles.

If a university where I lived/worked/studied as an international student allowed ICE to come onto campus to kidnap a student with a green card, I would never feel safe ever coming back to said campus. Ever.

It’s hard to reconcile the “they’ll go after ideologies they don’t like next” talk with the fact they’ve been openly targeting a whole suite of them associated with Black scholarship already. They’ve already threatened to defund any university teaching critical race theory. Why doesn’t that count?

Look, folks, this is it. The entire ballgame. Either we're a Republic of laws & the Constitution, or we have a dictator. This is fascism, & the impeachment vote should be happening today. Every single university president in the country should be out, in front of microphones, condemning this.

Anyone find it funny how when the UK releases the Cass review to ban trans care, we get everything ranging from New York Times push notifs to op-eds in every major US paper... But when Germany, Switzerland, and Austria release pro-trans youth care guidelines, not a single article anywhere but mine?

if you find yourself reluctant to support the guy at Columbia because you find some of the politics he espoused distasteful or even abhorrent, you should know that this is exactly the reaction that they hoped for in choosing him as a target for unlawful detention based on political speech.

This case is about showing everyone that political protest and speech the government dislikes can get you arrested and kicked out of the country. It’s blatant authoritarianism.

This can not be shouted loud enough. Now is the crucial time for us to fight back, to not just call these things out but to hit the streets. Universities MUST say no to fascist intimidation and violence.

Free Mahmoud Khalil. It's important to protect speech, even, perhaps especially, when we don't agree what's being said. If we don't support other people's First Amendment rights, then who will protect ours? We have to all be in this together.

This reminds me of one of my favorite memes

New episode of the Francis Effect out today! @daultradio.bsky.social @paxchristiusa.bsky.social

if we ever get back the federal government we are going to have to burn quite a number of perfectly productive companies, mostly tech, to the ground because their executives cannot be allowed to have money

It's getting near the end of the month. Pay attention to Elon, not this. www.bbc.com/news/article...

I’ve started working on another book project, based on a set of lectures I am giving as part of the course in Ignatian Spirituality I am teaching this spring. I think I’m going to call the book “Jesuit Trickery”

And suddenly, we’re not talking about the fact that the first fatal commercial airplane crash in America in 16 years happened last week.

Elect a felon, expect crimes.
