A great deal of trouble we face now is that those in power assume everyone working for the public good has to be part of a grift because *they literally cannot conceive of a public good*. They are broken, deranged people, almost to a one. I'm struggling with the response to this.

The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

Pro-Palestinian rhetoric does NOT constitute material support for a terrorist organization. Criticism of the State of Israel does NOT constitute antisemitism.

Wow, major breakthrough in the development of broadly neutralizing bispecific antibody therapeutics against SARS-CoV-2, led by @stanford-chemh.bsky.social institute scholar @cobarnes27.bsky.social 😃 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

just bought a giant box of blox n95s because they’re 25¢ each so that my students, who don’t have access otherwise, can have decent masks. it is not okay that ppe is inaccessible to people who want it, especially in a world with a fucking plague that is being ignored by everyone else.

A study by Bristol Uni shows higher CO2 levels extend the lifespan of airborne viruses, increasing infection risks. Ventilation and filtration is key to help reduce CO2 levels in the air and protect our health! 🌍 Read More: https://buff.ly/41DBGKB

ARE. ARE, YOU DUMBASS.

Senator, welcome to Bluesky. Can you explain why you're sponsoring a bill to repeal Section 230, which would effectively make it impossible for Bluesky to do what it's doing today, creating this kind of space? Thanks. www.techdirt.com/2025/02/21/w...

If you agree with @cherijacobus.bsky.social Raise your hand ✋️

THIS IS HUGE! Researchers have developed a nasal COVID-19 vaccine that BLOCKS transmission of the virus. This suggests vaccines delivered directly to the nose or mouth could play a CRITICAL role in containing the spread of respiratory infections. Phase I clinical trials HAVE BEEN APPROVED! 🧪🧵⬇️

Currently overhead in Durham #Durham

Egg prices are through the roof due to unmitigated H5N1 Tuberculosis outbreaks in Kansas and North Carolina. COVID still killing & disabling people every week. Public health agencies barred from communicating with the public. Wear a respirator. For yourself and your community

It’s time to start wrapping our heads around the real possibility that collective action and even a general strike are required. Musk is working fast to solidify control, do as much damage as possible, and party “opposition” is not up to the fight. jaredyatessexton.substack.com/p/collective...

A general strike is our only real option.

Wearing masks, the more the better

When ignorant fucks write your laws. All mammalian fetuses at conception are female. Everyone in the US is now a girl. Officially. Welcome to the sisterhood, guys.

one thing i’m stuck on is this idea that “masculine” energy means license to act like a chud in public, as opposed to more traditional notions of public masculinity, such as those that put a premium on the performance of integrity, honesty, honor and generosity.

Tragically, the overwhelming response from the Democratic Party will be "Yay! Now I have statistics to support my hatred of the peace freaks" rather than any iota of reflection.

If there is anything I know, it is that in 2029, if* a Democrat is sworn in as President and Dems control both houses of Congress, the first order of business will be to ensure that absolutely no one is held accountable for the shitshow that is about to happen. *I know, BIG if #ItsABigClub

IN CASE OF FIRE: 1) If someone is on fire, punch them in the face. 2) Cop a feel off the person behind you, as these might be your last minutes on Earth. 3) Squeeze the junk of the person in front of you. It'll slow them down, allowing you to move ahead of them. 4) Exit.

An interesting concept but what if instead we did cars cars cars all policy revolves around cars everyone not in a car should die cars bigger cars even bigger cars no you can't walk cars only cars parking lots cars defund public transit cars more cars obey the cars

Then no one should expect fast food.

Agree entirely with @dfisman.bsky.social Current technologies allow sampling indoor air on a continuous real-time basis to allow measurement of viral loads in air duct systems of complex buildings. Quite similar to wastewater testing that can also be applied to complex buildings.

“The potential for these laws to be used in the furtherance of violence against women has been shamefully absent from the assisted dying debate.” I share @ccriadoperez.bsky.social concerns: it’s because I care about autonomy & dignity for all newsletter.carolinecriadoperez.com/p/they-just-...

(Long thread) Dealing with NC election data is frustrating. (I've done it as a vocation and avocation for 50+ years). Allegations that 250,000 voters did not put their NCDL number or SSN on a voter registration form submitted since 1/1/2004 raise a lot of data reliability issues /1 #ncpol

Durham did exceedingly well in the Best of the Best competition. #BullCity

Dear city staff tasked with improving your downtown environment for struggling small businesses. PR campaigns, “Love [insert city here]” are pointless window-dressing. 1) Get (qualified) officers on the street. -Stop aggressive panhandling. -Fix safety issues, real or perceived.

Schadenfreude (fuck that guy, he deserved it!) and catharsis (gods, that felt good!) are both at peak levels following the CEO assassination.

A woman who worked at an IHOP for 13 YEARS was fired for serving a homeless man a stack of pancakes and a glass of water "I need my job, but I would still do it again. I truly would. I would still help somebody if I could."

Japanese government to populace: Go fuck yourselves.

The fact that Rahm Emanuel still has a prominent voice in the Democratic Party in 2024 is indicative of Democrats' problems. I don't know how to explain to you that a person who actively covered up a police shooting and tried to tank an attempt at universal healthcare [only 2 examples] is terrible.
