Today GOP Rep Glenn Grothman (R-WI) held a town hall in Coloma, WI that didn't go well. Someone spoke about hasty, ill-advised Musk cuts to USAID and other agencies, using analogy of a 200-yr old oak being felled by 1 dude w/chainsaw. @maddow.msnbc.com @aoc.bsky.social @channel3000.bsky.social

UPDATE: Meta is continuing to censor anti-Musk ads. It has removed a Facebook ad calling for a boycott of Tesla, saying that it violates the company's policy on "unacceptable business practices" muskwatch.com/subscribe

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Precisely what we warned about when the emails first went out.

This machine kills fascists

One of the first targets here will almost certainly be blocking the mailing of abortion medications like mifepristone. If I'm right, it'll be a the biggest blow to reproductive freedom since the repeal of Roe.

Over on X, simple tweets by my colleague Greg Bluestein of the Atlanta Journal Constitution have been blocked. They were nothing but video of a town hall held by Rep. Rich McCormick R-GA where he was asked questions about DOGE

Here's @bluestein.bsky.social's uncensored thread of the town hall held by Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA), in which an unhappy audience pushes back against DOGE cuts: threadreaderapp.com/thread/18927...

is this where I point out Jim Jones’ late stage habit of always wearing sunglasses

So if you criticize Elon Musk, Trump’s DOJ will send you this letter. Members of Congress must have the right to forcefully oppose the Trump Administration. I will not be silenced.

Trump’s job approval is down to just +2.5 in 538’s average today. Generally speaking the narrative that he is a popular president with a “mandate” for policy change is not true, especially in comparison to historical POTUS approvals https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/approval/donald-trump/

they’re determined to touch the demon core, they can’t resist it’s pull

I've read most of the analyses of the DOGE 2025 "receipts" site. This, from NPR, is the best I've read so far. Some of what they claim to have cut haven't been cut, other "cuts" will incur costs down the road. NPR says DOGE has made $2B of cuts, not $55B. www.npr.org/2025/02/19/n...

NEW: Russian executions of Ukrainian POWs are not isolated incidents, but seem to be part of a broader pattern that suggests a systematic policy. By @christopherjm.ft.com @joesinft.ft.com @peter.andringa.me @digitalcampbell.ft.com @samjoiner.bsky.social and me. on.ft.com/4i6Yzve

Crony Capitalism 2.0: Gangster Capitalism

"They're putting persecuted Christian refugees in camps in the jungle" sounds like something Glenn Beck would accuse the Obama administration of doing and yet now it's a pillar of the Republican agenda.

lmfao do you know how unpopular you have to be to poll 4 points behind international aid and 12 points behind the IRS here

Between @aoc.bsky.social and @govpritzker.illinois.gov maybe the ambitions of Congress will truly save us
