I never got the point of the grabby beam mechanic, it feels like a weaker, prior iteration of Gaiares' TOZ. Nice gfx, great music though. There's just not enough there to really make me want to soldier all the way through.

That's a reason AB is so fascinating. It's an odd orphan stuck between the era of Rolling Thunder/Shinobi and the later "standard" established console platform game genres. It's kind of weird how big it was at the time for being such an oddball; but there was also nothing else much like it either.

Mostly it's just really uneven and kinda mediocre. There's so much worse on the PS2 tbh. I don't know if this came before or after everyone suddenly decided the original was a "bad" game; but that and the critical thrashing of other brawlers then (remember God Hand?) probably didn't help.

The right is 100% my grandparent's house. I can still smell the little wood burning heater and my grampa's lingering cigar smoke and spit chew waft. *Our* house looked even more 70's believe it or not.

This 90's anime style is really spot on. Great work :)

Since it mostly works just by renaming stuff in the game's folder I think any you have downloaded now (mostly SoR2 hacks for me) will be fine.

Brad Dourif and George C. Scott are both amazing in that. The chilling monologue about belief at the end is absolutely priceless.

It was kinda hilarious how quickly they snuck all kinds of roms/hacks into the Steam Workshop for this.

Example would be those few times I made a working RPG battle system complete with inventory and spell leveling - which seems like a lot until you think of all the things that comprise the rest of a game like that! (Just a world map system was enough to scare me off tbh.)

Just seeing someone else play this got me to replay the older XO remaster. Still an amazing game that somehow isn't sunk by it's many irritating flaws and conspicuous jank. XD

Funny how that works, eh. I just put stuff away on the shelf - then later pull it apart for scrap, restart it, merge it with something similar, whatever. Usually I just get to the point I either have to fix something tough or have to figure out way more complex features for it to work as a game.

Sift out the trash Some will try to shape your game into what *they* want. Others with no dev experience will chime in with nonsense. Some will nitpick irrelevant things. Ignore it all Technical help, learning processes to meet your goals=GOOD Be headstrong about what you want your game to be. 💪

The correct answer is Gaiden

Also, #1 on my additions/ tweaks list would be a Stage Retry option instead of having to continue at a checkpoint. For a notoriously evil arcade coin guzzler, it seems wrong to be given *that* much forgiveness. Aside from that, I just enjoy playing the whole stage again anyways...

The BoR take on Street Fighter 1 (just called Fighting Street?) is also pretty wild.

It's just never believable at all, too transparently a fantasy with the suspension of disbelief durability of a soap bubble. That said, I don't mind it as much if it's just openly trashy ecchi like say, Mouse; but things like "characters" and "story" are irrelevant at that very low threshold lol.

The end result is my recent project list has multiple duplicate names and I have to remember which is which every time I need to load a different one. It's so annoying. All because GM is oddly weird about just letting me fucking rename something. :P

to clarify 3: it's mostly nonsensical unknown object/variable errors and I *never* see this mentioned in code discussions on them. For some reason, it just lets you create things in the UI which it won't save internally, basically corrupting that yyp with the preferred name you assigned. :P

Earlier today I had an entire document full of notes all crossing off where in the script a specific bug *wouldn't* trigger... one I can get to happen on command in game. D:

I generally think the digital photo touchups are pretty good (the MK ripoff sub-genre as SO much worse); but yeah.... those crazy ass eyes. I'm actually super impressed they got as far as they did with the lack of experience in the genre and video games in general.

I dunno what it is about B. Jennett, they always go buckwild with her designs whenever she comes back.

I went through my archived files and there was more than I remembered. Nice big candy bag to pick from. I think It'd be cool if they went all over the place, personally. For one, I still like the old ZPF techno tracks a lot even though they didn't really fit all the different themes.
