I think next year is AJs best chance. Especially if Beltran gets in tonight

I’ll be honest, I don’t remember if he said anything about it. Might have been an anti-coors thing since he dropped Helton that year too

At least we don’t have anyone this year like Peter Gammons dropping Walker in his last year and saying on MLBN that he hoped Walker got in. PG used 6 votes that year so it wasn’t like he didn’t have room

The anon ballots have been solid this year. AJ/CB at 7/11, Wags 8/11, CC/Ichiro 11/11. Could be encouraging. Still think CB and AJ wait till next year but CB isn’t ruled out for this year yet

Jones doesn’t typically gain % after this point, so his best shot is next year

Any chance we have a large drop in public vs private like last year? All three inductees has a double digit drop in public vs private and I think mauer dropped 20%. If drops like that happen, would Wagner still get in?

No worries. And Dinobot was the best part of beast wars

Eno announced his ballot on 12/26

So the good news from the athletic drop is that none of the top candidates lost votes. But, this really wasn’t a spot where Beltran, Andruw and Wagner were in positions to gain many votes so their needles probably haven’t shifted at all for Tuesday

Aka the day people finally learned that in a large enough group, you’ll always have idiots and/or contrarians not willing to go with the obvious choices

Also, I like how MLBs picture had the two guys who ended up getting inducted as far in the background as possible.

Glad Dick Allen finally gets his due. Cobra is okay, too. They need to do separate ballots for the NNL players/managers so they don’t get overlooked on tough ballots like this one.

I just hope there isn’t as much of a ceiling on Beltran.

Do you think the electorate changes enough to prevent what happened to Bonds/Clemens in that they never were able to squeeze enough votes after a couple of boosts? I’d like to see Beltran in sooner rather than later and the ballots are thinner than BB/RC so I think that helps

The problem with Omar is there were so many great SS during his career that push him down where in Ozzie’s case he was at worst third best (yount had the edge offensively and Larkin in his early years). Even with the defense, was vizquel better than jeter, nomar, arod, renterira, etc?

The voices of MVP baseball 2005, still probably my favorite baseball game of all time

Yes, and it’s a move I mostly agree with.

Hard to say but as of this moment the cards don’t have someone at first or DH really worth much. Goldy isn’t coming back and his bat has aged quickly the last two seasons (still ok with the glove). Burleson is streaky and I doubt they want to pigeonhole walker or Gorman to DH yet

I think with Contreras it’s more that they have decent players they want to see more of in Herrera and Pages, plus they want to keep Willy C healthy for as much of the year as they can.

I can at least see the logic. I’d add Beltran and maybe a couple of others but I can’t disagree that these are the 4 most deserving who are also scandal free

I’d agree except I love Men in Tights
