Teachers teach. We need a leaderful movement, and there are leaders all around us.

Malcolm X was assassinated 60 yrs ago today. See his timeless wisdom on the true meaning of “progress.” “If you stick a knife 9 inches in & take it out 6—that’s not progress. Progress is healing the wound. They wont even admit the knife is there.”

“We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist” James Baldwin

Can’t decide: read the book first and then watch the movie/show? Or vice versa? #books #booksky

🧵 Elon Musk is shredding the United States government. But that’s not enough for him. Now, he wants to buy Wisconsin’s state Supreme Court as well. Help stop him: secure.actblue.com/donate/wisde...

NEW: Pregnancy became far more dangerous in Texas after the state banned abortion, according to ProPublica’s first-of-its-kind analysis, which found the sepsis rate for women hospitalized as they miscarried in the 2nd trimester shot up by more than 50%. https://propub.li/43487Tj

Elon musk is the richest man in the world, he could be funding hospitals, medical research and universities. He could be solving the climate crisis. He could be feeding, hungry children. Instead, he’s trying to make sure that your grandmother doesn’t get an extra dollar of Social Security.

Dan with our semi-weekly reminder that autism is way fuckin cooler than the measles

Washington Post got their hands on internal documents from DOGE showing the entire plan to implement resegregation. They're going to purge minorities from government by calling them DEI. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/int...

The Stonewall Inn released a response to the National Parks Service removing the word transgender from the park outside of the Inn. A great reminder that we have to look after each other

Vaccines DO NOT cause autism. But what the autistic people in your life hear when you spread that widely debunked misinformation is that you would prefer to have a child die a painful death from eradicated communicable disease than to be like them. That's nasty work. Hope this helps!

Good advice ⬇️

Raskin: "Trump is suing CBS for $20b in damages because, check this out, he believes an interview with Kamala Harris produced too favorable an impression of her. That means I could sue Fox News because I think their interview with Trump produce too favorable an impression. I mean, this is lunacy."

💰 Cutting billions in programs for regular people while passing trillions in tax cuts for the rich while pretending to care about the debt. Pay attention.

And there it is. Republicans have proposed a $4 trillion debt limit increase. Four trillion dollars.

Hey Wisconsin!!! On the ground here! Let's make out voices heard! We can keep fighting! Supreme Court Election April 1st!!!

from today's post — please go read the whole thing here: bit.ly/4aV4MI6 thanks!

Huh. Mine must be broken. Dear Leader’s supreme order hasn’t compelled my map to change.

JUST IN: Federal judges orders HHS, CDC, and FDA to restore “by no later than 11:59 pm” today their websites and datasets to pre-January 30th status. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Pfizer’s cancer drug commercial was beautiful, but their breast cancer drug Ibrance costs $10k per month and their prostate cancer drug Xtandi costs $22k per month. Beautiful commercials don’t change the fact that 42% of cancer patients exhaust their life savings in 2 years.

“This is punk rock time. This is what Joe Strummer trained you for.” - Henry Rollins

Two lawyers, one Yale educated, one Harvard educated; one the VP, one a senator, suggesting that decisions made by courts aren’t legitimate if they don’t like the outcome. This is dangerous territory.

Just saw a farmer say, "you don't have to admit you were wrong, you have to admit you were lied to, " and idk that seems like a good framing to call people in

They don't think the presidency has these powers, a democrat was president less than a month ago and they didn't think he had them. They just think America should be a dictatorship where they rule forever bsky.app/profile/jame...

My #Yale colleague Harlan Krumholz explains why the cuts to indirect costs are a disaster for biomedical research in the United States. Want to do something about it? I'll list those who have to hear from us below. Share, recruit friends and family to help. 1/ www.statnews.com/2025/02/08/n....

a good part of me thinks that in addition to everything else, the reason they are scrubbing these stories is they do not want disadvantaged kids to believe they can aspire to anything other than their designated “black” or “hispanic” or “woman” job

DEIA policies are necessary because we don’t live in a “colour blind & merit based” society. They literally save lives. When I first became sick, I spent years being dismissed because I was a woman. My serious heart issues blamed on anxiety, hormones, being unmarried etc 🧵

Or why not two? Double the love ❤️

Perhaps all of this will finally put an end to the fiction that "no one is above the law" in the U.S.

Ableism is blaming disabled people on how their needs are a burden on the system rather than blaming the system on how inaccessible things are for disabled people.

tuberculosis outbreaks in Kansas, North Carolina & Ohio. CDC aren’t permitted to update the public & people are not being advised of the risk or told to mask. There’s evidence that COVID causes immune system damage which could lead TB to reactivate. A respirator prevents both Covid & TB. Mask up!

Tesla earned $2.3 billion in the United States in 2024. You'd think it paid a lot in taxes, right? Well it paid precisely $0 in federal income taxes last year. You want waste and fraud? Look at what some big corporations and the rich are getting away with.

US farmers sold $2 billion of food to USAID. Not any more. - US farmers provided 41% of food delivered by USAID - $340M of purchases/shipments are now paused. Over 680,000 tonnes. - Food stranded in Houston - Aid stopped in transit. The world’s poor starving, food rotting & US farmers screwed.

North Carolina reporting tuberculosis on the rise for the first time in decades, as an outbreak in Kansas continues to surge. North Carolina was one of the first States to institute a mask ban. A respirator doesn’t just guard against covid, it protects against TB too

People always believe they will be the exception to disability and chronic illness There will be a cure when it’s their turn. They will try hard enough and get better They can’t accept that many things have no cure. It’s no one’s fault. Most people will face disability at some point in their lives

When you solve for the wrong problem, not only do you not get the solution, you can cause harm. The President wasted water that was being saved for farmers for a PR stunt. This was harmful, ludicrous, and solved nothing.

the OTHER thing about the white house’s anti-diversity push is that like old fashioned segregation it is explicitly an effort to undermine unions! like c’mon! don’t be stupid!
