I love Sean’s “keep making films for the big screens” mantra which he has made a trademark on the Anora festival and awards circuit but the bit about parents sharing films in theaters with their kids felt especially resonant tonight. Do this, please. If theaters are meant to survive, they need kids.

Anora is an excellent choice for Best Picture. Two things: 1. Anora feels like the closest thing to a modern take on a 60s-era Billy Wilder film, I can’t quite explain why. 2. Go watch Tangerine and The Florida Project to see how good Sean Baker has been for a while.
