man it was nice to have a president who wouldn’t give an off the cuff press conference tanking the economy

My wife just asked me if I was whistling at our dog and I had to admit that no, I was pretending to be R2D2. She took it in stride and said, “Oh, okay.”

i think it's cool that they made a truck that doesn't work as a truck at all and instead makes random strangers hate you and want to ruin your life. good purchase

a year ago 16-year-old Oklahoman Nex Benedict died after a bathroom beating. in the time since, we've lost more trans kids, while losing federal trans rights. how a community is holding itself together after years of living under Trump's current anti-trans policies at the state level @teenvogue.com

I got mad at the New York Times after their editorial board released an opinion piece condemning Trump's anti-trans EOs and I decided to write about how the paper of record laundered transphobia into the mainstream and paved the road for Trump's transphobia. www.patreon.com/posts/nyt-ed...

in retrospect maybe it was a mistake to tell young people that reading, the arts, the humanities weren’t important and that “learning to code” was sufficient for a good life.

tariff the fuck out of me, Trudeau. I want to pay $50 for maple syrup and to see car prices to go up 25% overnight. the American people voted to touch the stove, and by god, that stove shall be touched.

I just sent this email to all 13,000 federal employees of the NOAA lol. The Trump administration's changes to their communications system made it so literally anyone can blast messages out to the entire agency

Montgomery County Public Schools comes out and tells Trump to pound sand with his EO telling schools that they have to discriminate against transgender students. This is how you refuse to comply.

If you don't think you can be talked out if your current gender, why do you think trans people can be talked out of theirs?

i said in the chat the other day that even though i'm a literal witch, i reckon i'm still closer to jesus' teachings than a significant number of american christians

First they came for the immigrants, and I spoke out, because I’ve read the damn poem before and I know how it ends.

This is the latest post on my newsletter and, honestly, it felt like I was just listing the most basic of things. Like "stand up for us!" and "educate yourself!" The problem is, even those super basic things are too difficult for a lot of cis folks who proudly say they are trans allies. 😕

Wait, fascism isn't good for profits? www.theverge.com/2025/1/24/24...

A lot of people need to read their Brandon Sanderson. We will *not* comply in advance.

Fuck. This is so fucking stupid.

Me whenever I'm on a night shift

TLDR: There is nothing enforceable for the immediate future. It will take months or years to implement this via rulemaking or bureaucratic changes which are then subject to legal challenge. While it's worrying, there's no immediate change yet for most trans people. Do not comply in advance.

These executive orders on banning federally funded entities from recognizing trans people or disallowing them from using the bathroom are not self-executing or immediately enforceable. They require formal rule making at a minimum. They are a scare tactic. Ignore and do not comply in advance.

Weird that we have to say this, but the government doesn’t get to decide what gender a person is.

Transgender people have always been here, and we’re not going anywhere. Count on it.

BREAKING: We’re suing the Trump administration to block the president’s attempt to end birthright citizenship. An executive order does not have the power to override the Constitution.

“Defending” women while banning abortion, limiting recourse for pregnancy discrimination, engaging in a campaign to deport families, seeking to revoke birthright citizenship. Don’t be deputized to enact their cruelty.

We are here. We are strong. We are fighting back. 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️

I decided to restart my newsletter -- in this post, I discuss the first lesson of @timothysnyder.bsky.social 's book "On Tyranny" -- do not obey in advance. open.substack.com/pub/jben3634...

Love you all 🩵🩷🤍 #transrightsarehumanrights

Transgender & non-binary people of the United States: I just feel like today, in light of the inauguration of 47, maybe you might need the reminder that you are ALWAYS immeasurably valuable. #TransRightsAreHumanRights #HumanRights

Trans Liberation Now. Trump can sign his orders, they can pass their bills, ban our existence. None of it changes who we are. Being trans is a gift and one I am so grateful to have received. No fascist Trumpist nationalist bullshit will ever change that. Get some rest. Stay safe. Keep fighting.

reminder about checking yr sources when sharing links. the fp is bari weiss’s site and emily yoffe was one of the atlantic’s famous transphobes. i don’t doubt many awful executive orders are coming but like, we could maybe not circulate gleeful bigots without questioning

If it can't be changed then why are you banning us from changing it

I am stunned by the collective amnesia about how awful Trump’s first term was at the same time, this is exactly why his honeymoon is going to be short lived. round 2 is going to be an absolute shitshow

kids, this is called propaganda

So... I got a notification from the State Department at like 8 PM Pacific that my passport was approved, and I was quietly thankful and stunned bc my legal gender is X, and that's what's on my passport. I'm pretty sure someone worked late to get the X passports done today. Thank you, random worker.

Trans people even look kind of like we're from the future, and no I don't really know what that means, we just do

Taking the metro in DC today

Definitely the problem I’m having…

The quality, hard-hitting journalism we’ve all come to expect from the @nytimes.com

Tomorrow is the official end of the Obama era of trans rights in America. Thanks for all the support from allies, but it’s over now. We lost. For the next 4 years, trans people will not be equal citizens of the law according to the executive government of America. God help us.

🚨Trump’s Day One Executive Orders reportedly include directives (which will likely take time to implement) on pronouns, prison inmates, and passports. But nothing, for now, affecting the ability of trans Americans to obtain medical treatment.

Happy final weekend of democracy to all who celebrate 🎉
