BREAKING from @ddayen.bsky.social: Trump's acting head of the Social Security Administration told staff in a meeting he is looking to fire 50 percent (!) of the agency's workforce. prospect.org/health/socia...

Lots of stuff like this going on. Because they've managed to install a Trump/Elon super fan as head of SSA. I don't know the details here. But I do know that DOGE micro-bros have been canceling SSA office leases like crazy. Usually without the staff knowing. So this seems inevitable.

This is LITERALLY what USAID does!!!

I think what this shows is that most people aren't actually anti-vax, they're just extremely obstinate about being asked to do anything even slightly inconvenient when they don't see an immediate benefit for themselves

This is a terrible thing, it didn’t have to happen, and it is profoundly sad that we are going to see more of it.

The thing about billionaires that people too often forget is that they lie, literally all the time.

This Onion headline haunts my dreams

Bezos destroying the post opinion pages is just another reminder: Conservatives think free speech is when they can say what they want and when you can say what they want.

The University of Alaska's Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program has (seemingly) scrubbed most instances of "Alaska Native" on its website. This coincides with the UA Board of Regents voting to get rid of DEI-related language. (Left image is Wayback machine from Jan. 15)

what the actual fuck

HAPPENING NOW: A federal judge who ordered the unfreezing of USAID contract spending is voicing frustration as a Trump administration lawyer repeatedly refuses to say whether they have actually taken any steps to implement his 12-day-old order.

"President Trumps' lawyers"

BREAKING: A federal judge just blocked Donald Trump's executive order pausing the US Refugee Admissions Program saying it appeared to "cross the line" into "nullification of congressional will."

this action has already murdered ~14,000 adults and ~1,500 children pepfar.impactcounter.com bsky.app/profile/bran...

when you're so pro-Putin that you've lost Maria Bartiromo ...

Congrats, America. We're now on Putin's side.

Wyden: "Nobody should lose sight of what happened this morning. Trump endorsed the House budget resolution. This resolution mandates that $880b in cuts come from the House Energy & Commerce Committee ... there is no plausible way to hit that target without hundreds of billions in cuts to Medicaid."

Baldwin: "Last night, the president said 'I'm not touching Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, VA, I'm not touching them.' By this morning, he endorsed the House budget resolution which paves the way for massive cuts to Medicaid."

Trump: "We have effectively eliminated the US Agency for International Development ... we virtually shut down the out of control CFPB." (This is illegal)

Trump: "Show up to work in person like the rest of us ... they're not working. They're playing tennis, they're playing golf. (Trump has been at his house and golfing all week.)

Trump: "Lee Zeldin. Head of the environment. Environmental ... ah ... the environmental group. Various groups."

john roberts u up (to defend the entire federal judicial project)

You guys have fucked up so bad you made Quebec patriotic

A minor

Trump official announces that Trump has signed an executive order claiming that only the president can speak for “what the law is” (This is not how the Constitution works)

how many fucking times do these brainless dipshits have to do this before they stop slamming the country’s collective dick in a car door

It seems almost unavoidable at this point that we are headed for a deep, deep recession. Just based on 200K+ federal firings & pullback of contracts, the March employment report (to be released April 4) seems certain to show bigger job losses than any month ever outside of a few in 2008-9 and 2020.

A labor economist told KCUR's Up To Date that Kansas City does not have enough available jobs in the area to make up for all the local federal workers getting laid off by the Trump administration.

worth stressing, again, that this was not actually the project 2025 plan, the plan was to take an entire term and the actions were to be taken more carefully precisely to *avoid* the kinds of legal and logistical challenges they’re setting up

the DOGE decision to fire everyone for “performance” regardless of their record of performance is going to bite them in the ass

FBI cancels community outreach programs for seniors

entitlement to rape is the central ideological pillar of trumpism

NEWSY: The White House confirms tonight that Elon Musk is NOT the administrator of DOGE and is not even technically part of it. He's a "senior adviser to the president" like Anita Dunn, they say. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

God why can't men just be fucking normal.

JUST IN: Another medical horror story in an affidavit from a USAID employee stationed overseas. Says his pregnant wife was not medevac-ed for emergency health care because of directives from DC. Took intervention of a U.S. senator to reverse — but was too late. s3.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

taking black kids away from their parents and putting them on farms seems really familiar to me! what could it be?

everything is a conspiracy if, like david sacks, you are a fucking idiot

it is beyond clear that for many americans trump is a blank slate who stands for whatever they personally want

Many Americans fundamentally believe that truly horrendous things can't happen here, and work backwards from there.

ok! www.sltrib.com/news/politic...

we might get a bonus march situation soon enough

this is a good example of the attitude that has led democrats down the road to disaster. it rests on the belief that public opinion cannot be shaped or mobilized or moved, only reacted to
