America apparently now doing the Russia-style "secret [ie totally made up] chemical labs in your country justifies the cross-border menacing we were already doing" move.

Tom Friedman on point here, though he understated the case. Either Trump is the worse negotiator in all the universes of truth and fiction, or he is beginning an alliance with Russia with a joint attempt to subjugate Ukraine (and then much else). www.nytimes.com/2025/03/04/o...

Trump is considering withdrawing 35,000 US troops from Germany and redeploying them to Eastern Europe, — The Telegraph President Donald Trump is considering withdrawing US troops from Germany, with plans to relocate them to Hungary, a country known for its close ties with Russia

Starlinks for Ukraine are paid for by the Polish Digitization Ministry at the cost of about $50 million per year. The ethics of threatening the victim of aggression apart, if SpaceX proves to be an unreliable provider we will be forced to look for other suppliers.

Another hit in the head.. And the worst thing is - Trump let Kremlin break the news that he is moving the US troops from Germany to pro-Russian Hungary.

trump is considering pulling troops out of Germany and moving them to Hungary, which has close ties with russia, — The Telegraph. trump is considering pulling 35,000 troops out, which would further strain his relations with Europe. Hungary? That's almost like trump stationing his troops in russia.

After Elon Musk has been insinuating to turn off Starlink in Ukraine, Poland‘s Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski is reminding Musk that Poland is paying for it, and he is making clear that if Musk follows through that Poland will abandon Starlink altogether for being an unreliable service.

The world must learn to take Donald Trump literally

🧵 This is a perfect example of what I've be describing as disordered discourse, and it's threat to democracy. Politicians are afraid to speak openly about key issues. Why? Because disordered discourse has captured the system itself—forcing obedience, punishing dissent, and making truth irrelevant.

Donald Tusk: “It’s striking but it’s true. Right now, 500 million Europeans are begging 300 million Americans for protection from 140 million Russians who have been unable to overcome 50 million Ukrainians for three years." www.politico.eu/article/dona...

I've been thinking this over the last weeks/months - good thread from Minna on why it's missing the mark to describe Europe as a bunch of security freeloaders.

Important point in the EUCO conclusions from today: 4. e) peace must respect Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. = no sell-out peace at Ukraine’s cost

Imagine if Europe hadn’t supported the US in the GWOT. The US could’ve ended up a pariah state already 20 years ago. So let’s all drop this narrative about ungrateful Europeans

I’ve really had enough of these takes that it’s been unfair that Europe has outsourced its defence to the US. First of all, the US needed both the bases in Europe and European political and military backing for its global war on terror and the wars in the Middle East. It was never pure charity.

EU har ikkje for vane å jobba særleg fort, men no er dei i gang med å byggja ein ny tryggleiksinfrastruktur for kontinentet. Dette burde Noreg vore del av.

Over 80 years of post WW2 allied support gone in less than 40 days of Trump's time in office. Germans' trust of the US is now on par with Russia, with 3 times as many Germans trusting Ukraine over the US. Only 16% of Germans now trust America, with 75% "do not trust".

Trump isn’t only helping Russian forces kill Ukrainians, his actions are also helping North Korean forces kill Ukrainians. So he’s helping two of his favorite anti-American authoritarians, not just one.

Trump's cutting of Ukraine's access to intelligence feeds is already inflcting a catastrophic loss of life at the front. And today, North Koreans are pouring over the border for the first time. Americans will never be forgiven for this. eutoday.net/us-intellige...

Vel.. altså.. jeg skjønner at det er sånne ting man kanskje MÅ si.. men jeg håper for Guds skyld at sjefen for landets forsvar ikke MENER dette..

What current & former European officials (& many of the former officials are speaking on behalf of the current) are saying about Trump, Putin & the TransAtlantic is truly unprecedented Here, the ex Lithuania Minister of Foreign Affairs nonchalantly compares Trump-Putin to the Molotov-Ribbentrop

The Russian agent Călin Georgescu is now being widely broadcast on Russian channels; in particular, a segment of his interview appeared on Solovyov's show. Somehow, scumbags like Georgescu always end up on Russia's side.

“Călin Georgescu receives support from the Trump administration and Russian spy agency ahead of May presidential vote. Georgescu is subject to an obligation not to leave the country, not to bear firearms and not to post xenophobic or antisemitic content on social media.” www.ft.com/content/6b89...

Thinking of the many people who have lectured me over the years about the inherently democratic nature of the U.S. institutions and people. This "American exceptionalism" is implicit in so much of the debate about U.S. politics, including within academia, and is still taught uncritically today!

This is exactly the kind of institutional demand ramp-up the European space sector needs, frankly, if the EU wants to be an autonomous space power, and European states want to move away from US dependency.

www.nytimes.com/2025/03/07/w... This is insane

Is America great again yet?

Absolutely brilliant @newlinesmag.bsky.social essay by Alex Hobson exploring the dynamics of humiliation and counter-humiliation in international affairs, from the aftermath of 9/11 to the Gaza war and the Zelensky Oval Office debacle. Full of illuminating insights. newlinesmag.com/essays/the-h...

Elon Musk blew up another rocket using your tax money, it was recently reported that his failed experiments and falling satellites are causing severe damage to our ozone layer, risking the entire planet. #3E #EndAutogenocide #EndOligarchy

For the second time in a row, a SpaceX rocket launch has failed. Elon Musk’s company lost contact with the rocket shortly after launch Thursday night. SpaceX notified the FAA of possible falling debris while video from the ground showed the rocket’s failure.

"The defeat of #Ukraine would be the defeat of Europe. The Baltic States, Georgia and Moldova are already on the list. Putin’s goal is to return to Yalta, where half the continent was ceded to Stalin." - French Senator Claude Malhuret made an excellent speech.

French Senator Claude Malhuret: "Washington has become Nero’s court, with an incendiary emperor, submissive courtiers and a jester high on ketamine. (...) We were at war with a dictator, we are now at war with a dictator backed by a traitor" #3E #EndOligarchy

Very clear strategy emerging for dealing with Orbán's threat at the European Council today - enough is enough, and if necessary decisions will be adopted in coalitions of the willing. This is always harder than unity, but patience at such crucial questions is mostly gone.

⚡️ U.S. pushes Ukraine for ceasefire as part of minerals deal, Bloomberg reports.

One has fallen, but we remaining will continue forward.

The war, the geopolitical uncertainty and the new arms race started by Putin have left Europe with no choice. Europe must be ready for this race, and Russia will lose it like the Soviet Union 40 years ago. From today, Europe will arm itself more wisely and faster than Russia.

US diplomat: Victim is always to blame www.thetimes.com/world/russia...

Didn’t take long

Reading this and then realizing that those „opponents“ are Tymoshenko and Poroshenko, tells me how politically illiterate those Trump officials are.

Satellite internet service Starlink doesn’t have the capabilities to be the FAA’s communications backbone. Trump officials may take a $2.4 billion contract from Verizon and give it to Musk’s company anyway.

BREAKING - Trump team met with Ukraine’s top 2 opposition leaders to try to topple Zelenskyy The plan has FAILED - both opposition leaders have officially said they do NOT support calling an election to replace Zelenskyy while the war is going on

EU is ready to create a "coalition of the willing" to ensure "one country" cannot block support for #Ukraine - EC Vice-President @kajakallas.bsky.social at the Special European Council Summit in Brussels

Keir Starmer's spokesman repeatedly refuses to comment on Donald Trump's threat to the people of Gaza that "your are DEAD" if Hamas don't release Israeli hostages. "We wouldn't get into the specific comments overnight" he says.

Japan could be one of the first countries in the world to end the HIV epidemic, says Gilead Sciences Japan President Kennet Brysting.

🚨🚨 #Russianassets: I cannot say I am shocked anymore but these incredibly evil, nasty and cowardly betrayals by #Trump administration is getting just worse by the day. 🧵 www.politico.eu/article/dona...
