"requesting to understand?" Why do they have to give reports to this drug-addled fool?

It's infuriating even to me--there is no way black people can be qualified enough. That's what this proves. No amount or kind of experience, no number of degrees, no record of results is enough. Being "twice as good" is not enough. There is no "enough." It's straight racism.

He thought federal govt. only meant the DC area. he never thought Trump would hurt people he liked!

Hitler's generals tried to kill him, sadly they were unsuccessful. I have a feeling these are not the generals he's looking for

What does access to white house press briefings add to that problem? How does it resolve in any way except to amplify the admin's spin?
comment in response to

What is the value of "access?"
comment in response to

Why do they need to have a person listening to Trump's press sec. lying, and at best trying to shout a "gotcha" question? Do not understand the value
comment in response to

It's a good question!

I'll confess I agree with criticisms of the white house press corps. It often looks like either stenography or "access journalism" of the Maggie Haberman type. I'd be glad to learn why this is wrong

I call BS on this. They are all onboard with the Trump/Musk coup and just figuring on getting a good vassalage.
comment in response to

I doubt it. I think they are claiming this but in fact they're completely onboard and looking forward to the advantages of vassalage.

To be fair I remember similar articles from the 1980s. "is phila the next brooklyn?" That sort of thing

So unfair! FDR had the advantage of an actual crisis instead of having to manufacture his own

So much better than Jeffries contemplating moving to the right for imaginary midterm pickups. I often feel like the Dems might be about to go the way of the Whig Party

But yes to not be constrained by gold as money. Many cons have been losing their minds over it but it's worked ok. Fed Reserve now regulates the money supply

Off the domestic gold standard in 1933, off the international gold standard in 74. Ft. Knox was basically theater by FDR--taking the US off gold while making a big show of storing gold in a super secure vault. It was in Bugs Bunny cartoons

It's too heavy and wrong tires. In different snow conditions the weight might be an advantage
comment in response to

Audits of Ft. Knox have been a right wing obsession for decades. Rand Paul's father Ron was always calling for it. If they do they'll find there is not enough gold there to cover the nation's debts. They'll use it as an excuse to cut social spending. It doesn't really matter to the economy at all.

Vance: "free speech = "stuff I say," not "stuff you say." It's the Elon theory of free speech absolutism

The value of doing vs the value of buying, basically. It's getting the knowledge without doing any of the work. The end result will be more of what David Graeber termed "bullshit jobs." Ai generated tasks getting Ai generated responses, eventually you're cut out.

This is exactly where they're headed. It's the restoration of segregation, and a government that confines its benefits to white people

Agree about tedious and useless doomers, but congress can and has in the past refused to seat elected officials it didn't like, most notably socialists. The Supreme Court seems to have curtailed that in 1969. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unseate...

They don't seem to understand the modern media landscape at all. And =they're thinking "lay low, let Trump mess up and we'll win big in two years." I'll bet that's what Schumer and Jeffries are saying. Terrible strategy
