American Beauty was painfully obvious and pretentious.

I believe it. I saw photos of big crowds at Boise’s No Kings rally yesterday. But it seems like the Times is always more interested in delving into the psyches of (mainly white) working class Trump voters than investigating why millions of people protest his authoritarianism.

I don’t think our beautiful economy needs seven nuclear missiles. I think it can have two missiles or three missiles because what we were doing with China was just unbelievable.

You have two of my favorites on here already (“Silver Springs” and “Daytime Nighttime Suffering”). I’d add “Tiny Steps” by Elvis Costello, “Rain” by The Beatles, and “I Love My Car” by Belle & Sebastian.

I don’t think it’s cowardly to admit that you’re afraid. The brave thing to do is to do the right thing in spite of your fear. There is certainly more that the Senator can do in that regard.

You’d think that after all Trump’s (false) criticism of the Biden administration’s response to Helene, his own administration would handle things better.

Choosing golfing with the Saudis over honoring dead American soldiers is also disgusting.

Mock Tudor is my favorite RT solo album, so here’s a vote for you giving it a listen. The opener is a real banger:

My list of best Genesis albums would definitely include Foxtrot and The Lamb, and it would definitely not include Invisible Touch. I do think Duke and Abacab are good Collins-era choices, though.

2006 Lolla speaks for “my generation”, though it’s hard to believe that Sonic Youth and The New Pornographers were in small text on the poster.

There was a great crowd today for the Transgender Unity Rally in DC today. Sadly, no Democratic members of Congress spoke at the rally.

Yes, I don’t really get it. One interesting factoid: Robert Fripp produced it, along with an album by Daryl Hall (of Hall & Oates!) called Sacred Songs. Fripp considered those 2 albums plus his own Exposure lp to be a trilogy, though I’m not sure Gabriel and Hall agreed.

While Gabriel himself considers his second solo album to be a “failed experiment” it is one of my favorites. On the Air, DIY, the very Fripp heavy White Shadow, and the family tragedy Home Sweet Home are all great. Exposure is a sign of things to come.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on Murray St, which is among my top 3 SY albums. Empty Page, Disconnection Notice, and Rain on Tin are all standouts. Granted Plastic Sun’s line “Rip me off with your greasy hair” would’ve been better in its original form: “Rip me off with your Britney Spears.”
