And from the grave he screams, “success!”

Cheaper.

Honestly this type of solicitation should be illegal.

The docs who do that kind of stuff are gross and likely borderline or overtly unethical.

Eww also ignores the fact that you need an Rx.

Well, at least maybe she will look for it a little more in the news. But unfortunately it will probably just lack appropriate context.

Ok, the commercial stuff is obviously frightening and I of course disagree vehemently with any inappropriate firing/layoffs with the FAA, but how do the military/small aircraft incidents trend with prior years?

Did they see this as a bad outcome or just part of the process of getting rid of the fraud?

Yeah, I mean we knew enough about Elon before the truck came out. I am so thankful I never bought a Tesla.

I get that for most people getting rid of their Tesla doesn’t make financial sense but in this case…

🙁 All of this is just completely heartbreaking

Fair. I guess it’s hard to say from one half if there really was some huge jump. Also I really think the size matchup is one of the most critical things for this team

We were saying the same thing. Maybe he just needs more touches and doesn’t like playing the 3 as much.

Is that from DOGE?

That’s often from indirects too. Obviously cores can use directs for such things but it ain’t paying for the maintenance!
comment in response to post
Equipment most often goes into indirects. And that is extremely expensive!! A single centrifuge can easily be $10,000.

It’s only about $600 million they’re trying to take away.
comment in response to post
It’s not particularly intuitive. Hell, it took me overspending on my first little grant to realize that IDCs don’t come out until you spend your directs. Give some slack when people ask questions.

And, generally any major equipment (>$5k) and certainly repairs of said equipment are not covered by this. It’s like saying, we will give you exactly the amount needed to buy your car, but gas and maintenance are not covered and you’re not allowed to get another job to pay those bills.

Yes, correct. It’s 40-70% additional of the proposed research costs, not 40-70% of the total costs. You say $1m to do the project, add $400-700k to keep the lights on and the machine going.

When you write a grant all you get to propose is the money for the research itself and salary for the people directly involved in the research. Indirects cover rent, utilities, equipment, staff not doing the research, IT, libraries that give you access to journals, legal, accounting.
