At the first of what will be weekly tariff news conferences, Holt said, moments after providing the province's toll-free mental health support phone number, that it's "a great time to be with your friends, to get outdoors, to clear your head, to turn off the news."

Thanks @poitrasj.bsky.social for noting the premier's 'turn off the news' comment. I nearly spit out my coffee when she said it! Turn off Meta, turn off Twitter, but folks, please don't turn off your hardworking news media!

5 years ago today: as COVID looms, all parties in the N.B. legislature allow all-stage approval of the provincial budget in a 17-minute procedural sprint. Premier Higgs then invites other leaders onto an all-party committee to oversee response. A moment of unity and sanity before all the craziness.

Mark Carney wins 85.9% of the votes for a decisive first ballot victory. He is the new Liberal leader and prime minister designate. He will officially become PM likely later this week. The first PM in Canada to have never held elected office. Expect an election soon.

This is the most unfortunate Brier shot I’ve ever seen

Hello folks. Jim Cuddy here. Due to our troubles with our neighbours in The States, I was inspired to write a little song. It’s called “We Used to Be the Best of Friends”. youtu.be/b5jgJZWG7aY?... #USA #Canada #Tarrifs

I’d like to announce my forthcoming US history book, covering a decisive but tumultuous era in that country’s history, titled “The trade policies of the United States: 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on Friday, March 7, 2025” It will be 400 pages.

Bloomberg alert: *US PAUSES TARIFFS ON CANADA, MEXICO USMCA TRADE UNTIL APRIL 2

An important point to keep in mind today: the USMCA theoretically covers nearly all goods traded between Canada and US. In practice, a large numbers of exporters both in US and Canada don't use USMCA process because it adds a lot of complexities (parts of origin rules, wage rules, etc).
