In terms of ideology and action, putin is hitler. Who putin refers to as "nazis" are simply foes of russia-- not those who attacked Jews, Roma, LGBTQ, communists, etc. quisling is the quintessential republican.

but because stalin was a bloodthirsty tyrant who ruled over a russian empire called the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. stalin betrayed communism far further than Lenin in using its philosophy as a cover for brutal dictatorship.
comment in response to post
His most consequential actions were the blueprint for the philosophy and operating principles of the international right-wing. A foot note for context-- quisling used communism as his bogeyman. putin is NOT a communist. putin encourages russian devotion of stalin not because of communism--

He consistently saw society in elitist and racial terms. He enacted policies EXACTLY like Project 2025. He advanced himself through acts of cowardice and toadying to oppressors. His feeble attempts at trying to rectify his actions when the end was inevitable, were unimpressive.

This is very true. But his way of operating never varied. The direction was toward power at what ever cost. He was sneaky, embroiled in scandal, and a poor verbal communicator-- but his penchant for scandal made him notorious, and to a degree, popular. at one time--

If you have never heard of him, then this is an excellent history lesson. He was a more than capable person in contrast with the lead sycophant. He is more like the generic powers-that-be in the American right. One may look at his philosophy and notice that it seemed volatile and prone to change--

Not disputing that. I am using more acessible but perhaps less accurate terminology. cruz would sell his wife to the taliban if he thought it would preserve his status.

Shameless bootlicker. Another reason why I believe in hell.

The protests did their jobs. They were out to damage not only Jews, but the Democratic party in general. Mission accomplished for those assholes.

you voted for Tulsi, right, Lisa?
comment in response to post
Which was, in effect, a vote for trump and against Democracy.

Ukrainians fight for their democracy. Americans willingly gave theirs up. That’s why Ukraine has honor and America has none

“nazi” to russia is some entity that fights russia. Or Jews who don’t support the russian government. If that sounds twisted it’s because it is.

so no POW flags and definitely no tr*mp flags.

Resist and call out everything. Point out the lies, the failures, the criminality, and do so without the appearance of fear. Quit funding subservient media, and boycott supporters to whatever degree you are able. Start thinking about Democratic nominees TODAY. Fight mean and fight dirty.

"The truth is closer to the opposite. Opposing, resisting, and checking Trump, and ultimately defeating Trumpism, are the prerequisites to preserving, protecting, and defending the Constitution of the United States."
comment in response to post
"They’re key to such an effort, as is clear from the history of authoritarian takeovers elsewhere. It’s become fashionable in some circles to explain that we who have opposed Trump can’t just oppose Trump, can’t just resist Trump, can’t just seek to check Trump, can’t just work to defeat Trumpism.

trump’s vileness aside, Christie only turned on trump after itlooked like trump would receive justice. My pity for Christie (a jerk himself) is nil. He helped make the monster. He has no courage to respect. I doubt he defends himself or attacks trump at all.

and yet we have trump because he couldn't help appointing an ineffectual cowardly old white male to the post of attorney general. Merrick Garland, I hope you have a miserable retirement, you fucking quisling.

treasonous bastard.

Maybe the Kurds and Druze are potential allies. The ex isis/al-qaeda remnants would have to prove it. Not a good track record in tolerating a Jeeish state.

I’m talking about attacks that go back 70+ years. Pre-Assad. It is a strategic outpost for a reason.
comment in response to post
I dunno. Given that elements of the resistance were ex Al-Qaeda. I can see the logic.
comment in response to post
Considering how many attacks originated from around the Golan, it makes sense that Israel never gave it back. It might be worth it if there is a guarantee of peace with a UN presence. Else I don’t see Syria getting it back. The quickest way to new civil war is for Syria to make that their priority.
comment in response to post
The point is make them work for it. If their goal is to eliminate us, make sure we exact a price and—make sure they know in advance we will exact a price. Soldiers die, even on the winning side. One thing we have on our side is that fascists are cowards. Dangerous cowards, but cowards nonetheless.

There is no need to jeopardize their security by waiting to see what chaos brings. Precautionary measures.
comment in response to post
I’m not. Until the chaos settles down, Israel should make sure there arr no surprise attacks from zealots. Basically they need to see who is in charge
comment in response to post
They aren’t the enemy, iran is. Unless this is really about islamism and not democracy. Again, in which case that coalition will start fighting amongst itself.
comment in response to post
Syria wont be able to take it. The Golan is pc more strategic value than Gaza or most of the wesr bank. A coalition army united to get rid of an evil dictator is not going to have the same cohesion if someone wants the Golan back. Israel softened iran up enough to allow the offensive.
comment in response to post
Doubtful.
comment in response to post
Doubt it. If it’s a democracy Israel will be fine. If it’s an islamist state the Kurds and Druze won’t be helpful to the zealots. Honestly, hatred of Israel holds a lot of Middle East societies back. iran and rusia have caused more pain to those in Syria than Israel ever has.
