everyones' needs and use cases are slightly different, but personally I can't go to any live event/concert/anything with a PA system without them anymore.

that's exactly what the Democrats always try to do, and it doesn't work. it just shifts the overall politics to the right even further. even if it does work next election bc of how things are now, I don't think having George Bush fans representing the left would be a good thing

ye, and if I could vent for just a moment, one of my own personal frustrations is that literally no one is talking about this while everyone justifiably shits on the Democrats. first past the post+electoral college makes me feel hopeless more than anything else sometimes

in addition to money, our electoral system inevitably leads to having two viable parties. voting 3rd party generally means the "worse of two evils" is more likely to win.

anyway, you're making the correct decision. be ruthless about it IMO

I have managed to hit a weird middle ground where some of the ppl I follow post vaguely about bad things, but mostly don't directly share news. This keeps me "informed" but lets me decide to research it on my own. it doesn't completely eliminate the anger dopamine hits but drastically reduces them

here's a custom feed that does this. it's almost as good as a built in setting. bsky.app/profile/did:...

I think these types of questions are too much to unpack on social media. so much room for semantic issues. For example, this sounds *to me* like the very definition of a coalition. It's written like an appeal to hypocrisy, but I thought we all agreed hypocrisy in politics died years ago

learning a piano piece is like: 0% ➡️ 60%: painful tedium 60% ➡️ 95%: fun as hell 95% ➡️ 100%: painful tedium

I love F1TV and I will be sad if it's a casualty of this bidding war. A bespoke streaming service at a reasonable price with exactly the thing I want to watch, no more and no less - that is the original promise of the streaming era. Not consolidation

I had a rare spark of creative inspiration when playing AC6. Once I thought of it, I couldn't rest until it was done.

am I misunderstanding the rules or is this literally just left number + middle number = right number??

I don't think "logical reasoning ability" is the right way to think about what it's doing. training an LLM is not like teaching math to a human. consider the *ways* it gets things wrong vs the ways humans get things wrong.

"parrot" may be inaccurate, but so is "perform actual reasoning". if that were the case, it wouldn't provide confident, wildly incorrect responses. it's not thinking, it's resolving noise into a signal.
comment in response to post
I'm not arguing it isn't impressive. I'm wondering what makes this particular example any more impressive than anything else LLMs are known to do

the part where its output is confidently wrong and full of blunders is where the illusion falls apart. not really any different from AI art not knowing how to do hands (maybe hands are better now, I don't keep up with it)

I wonder if it seems more impressive to you because it is parroting something in your area of expertise. As a layman I'm not sure how this is any different from, say, generating a song. The only difference is the data it's been trained on.

Side q, is a silent protag (eg Link, Ness) a type of defined protagonist? In other words, "Blank slate" implies a certain amount of char customization/roleplaying mechanics?

Ah, another tiring, overstimulating day of sightseeing has come to an end. time to unwind with my favorite hobbies, oh shit they're 600 miles away. thank fuck for the Game Boy Advance SP

side question to this, what's a "suspended" one-month race ban? what's the point if it's immediately suspended?

this is the strongest pitch to join a dating app I've seen. I'll share pics of my cat to anyone who asks no strings attached

this makes intuitive sense to me. I can see a world where it's $80, sure, but definitely not $100
