In Toronto, due to regulations limiting floor plate size + shape, also market forces, all the new builds have awkwardly deep units. One of the reasons why "bring back the slab" is a slogan among local YIMBYs.

> They figured out that lighting their barns spurred the birds into laying more eggs, and into laying them year-round.
Didn't know egg laying chickens were so sensitive to lighting!

Been following you for awhile and somehow this is the most late-30s/early-40s post you've made so far. Truly exemplary.

I have on multiple occasions declared to other people that I don't think of myself as consumeristic. Conveniently ignoring the pile of electronic gadgets I've had to give away after purchasing.

In case anyone is curious, Canada did sign an agreement with the EU in 2016 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compreh...
Not clear on what further could be done, but various LLMs I queried had various suggestions.

Do you mean like joining the European Economic Area similar to Norway and Iceland? Or are there other less drastic options, like adopting various standards?

In case anyone else is wondering, the Canadian equivalent to USAID was called CIDA en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadia...
It was folded into the Department of Foreign Affairs.

A common argument for not building slabs anymore in Toronto is all buildings need a podium to avoid "shear winds" at ground level. Any idea if this is only a Toronto thing or if other places have different ways of approaching wind management?

I've been squinting at this chart for 5 minutes, but I'm not sure what you found/surprising informative. Maybe I just need an intro article because I'm unfamiliar with this field?

Is anybody asking "who do you think your neighbours are voting for" which apparently would have better predicted the US election?

Whenever I see polls change this quickly I am reminded I have no understanding of average voter reasoning.

Can you elaborate on your experiences with workshops? Who runs them? Are they open to everyone?

That was actually one of the more positive consultations I've been to! But also, yeah, the opposition was baffling.

What's your estimate of a reasonable timeline range? Or is it unlikely the money for this scale of project could be found in the first place unless spaced out for a long time?
