At this juncture I’d like to point out: * we’re on the brink of a golden age of medical healing * there’s enough money in the world to solve every problem in the world * a united approach could stop the climate crisis But a small group of sociopaths seeking personal power are going to throw it away.

"Some see".... Are the others blind?

It occurred to me that in the first 100 days of Trump's regime there's been no talk of "building a wall". Assume the wall was necessary, and assume that the bleating about "open borders" was true, isn't effecting mass deportation rather like fixing the flood damage without attending to the plumbing?

DOJ personnel don’t comment on anything beyond the four corners of a charging document in order to avoid prejudicing a defendant’s rights. Here’s the policy. The Attorney General of the United States violated it yesterday.

Booker: "This isn't just about Mr. Garcia. This is about every American understanding that this president is making an assault on the due process rights that are afforded to people in our country ... you cannot disappear people off American streets."

And now for something completely different.. Hans Heyerdahl, Norwegian (1857 - 1913) "Little Girl on the Beach"

Sorry not sorry. I can’t stop laughing about Stefanik. She sold her soul to become the answer to a Trivial Pursuit question.

Note to editors and producers: If an executive order demands action that is illegal or outside of the president’s authority, then you should not describe it as ordering something. You should say it seeks to achieve some outcome and then note it is illegal or beyond the power of the president.

Watching “Nickel Boys,” which is very good — but also a reminder that the operative theory on the right is that Black people were explicitly and structurally treated as subhuman within many Americans’ lifetimes but that’s all in the past with no lingering effects.

The horrors that are being inflicted on people, including the wholly innocent, in our name as Americans should make everyone rise up in protest and organize to oust these pretenders to the throne when all they seek is more power and wealth for themselves and cruel crumbs for the rest of us.

The author of this piece is an American photo journalist who has been embedded in El Salvador. Reading this piece is frightening and it should be. It's who we are in danger of becoming. time.com/7269604/el-s...

I was so honored to write this story for @sarahgailey.bsky.social's series "Love Letters." It's very personal, and writing it made me cry, but it also helped me explain why it's so important to survive and thrive together.

Maybe I haven’t been paying enough attention but I never thought a dictator could be so whiny

You should laugh at anyone who says the president should have unlimited power because he was elected. His power has to be limited *because* he's the president. This is fifth grade level social studies

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

Sunday thought: Delusional people often operate with a great deal of confidence.

An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last. ~ Winston Churchill

"dei medal" you might as well just put "n*gger medal" because that's what they mean to say

I have to say, I was disappointed with the Ides of March this year.

🚨Schumer is compromised, by who (Republicans, Russians, Oligarchs, etc.) or by what (spinelessness, greed, incompetence, etc.) is not important. 🎯Assume from here on now that he's a threat to democracy just like Trump. 👇Read more in this article americanmanifesto.news/p/schumers-s...

This power grab is unprecedented, unbounded, and unconstitutional.

It would be a real shame if y'all shared this online, printed out a few and hung up all around the Eastern Shore of Maryland. 😉

(1/3) It needs repeating: in 1994, Ukraine was persuaded to give up its nuclear weapons to Russia in return for the US, the UK, and Russia guaranteeing Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

So much winning

How to deal with fascists 101.

It’s been a long day, but in short, bullies ain’t shit! I don’t care what title you hold! This isn’t some long gone reality tv show or failed casino; it is war! How dare a draft dodging dumb dupe humiliate an ally & berate a brave man who has actually been on a battlefield for his people?!

that Krasnov thing explains what happened today

MAGA R's can perpetrate any lie they like about the budget/reconcilliation. You know who doesn't buy it? The Fed. The bond market.

Just canceled my Washington Post subscription.

Brave to @jeffstein.bsky.social, WaPo's chief economics correspondent, for not wasting any time in stating what must be stated. Hopefully the first of many.

For those of you who watched the video of an Idaho woman experiencing handmaid‘s tale treatment, now is the time to decide what you would do in that situation—whether it's you or whether you're nearby when this happens to someone else. We are in a moment where we all have to decide who we are.

Let’s get something clear. The GOP has the power to keep the government from shutting down in March. They control both chambers of Congress and the White House. If they can’t reach a budget deal within their own ranks, that completely on them. Dems: Don’t lift a finger to help them. Not one.

Maybe corny but it was helpful for me to hear Henry Rollins saying "this is not time to be dismayed, this is punk rock time, this is what Joe Strummer trained you for... You can be thunderous in your own life, to the eight people around you. That rubs off... Goodness is viral"

This hits hard.

Elon Musk is easy for most Americans to hate because everyone has had a dickhead boss who is bad at his job and way in over his head.

Apparently, Grok is the only reliable thing Elon Musk has paid people far smarter than him to create.

You don't fire Judge Advocates General unless you plan on issuing unlawful orders. www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-f...

Without a doubt.

Sending an email to employees asking them to list five things they did that week is a classic move from a manager who has no idea how to manage

This would be more worrisome if Trump had booted a Secretary of Defense because he was reticent to deploy troops against peaceful protesters oh wait

Amen to that.

that Trumpers think the US Postal *SERVICE* should be a profit-making enterprise exposes the fallacy in their conception of government

Something is shifting. They are still breaking things and stealing things. And they will keep trying to break and to steal. But the propaganda magic around the oligarchical coup is fading. (1/2)

Rep Raskin has been great. Rep Ocasio-Cortez has been great. And Rep Frost and Rep Crockett. Senator Murphy. Maybe no one knew exactly what to do. But such people laid down a clear marker. Let’s respect these and other elected federal representatives who stood out these first few weeks.

We don't know whether Trump was recruited by Russia in 1987 and codenamed #Krasnov but it's hard to think things would have turned out the way they have if it wasn’t true.

Some Russian guy claims that the Tangerine Tyrant was recruited as a spy by the KGB in 1987. They gave him the nickname: Krasnov, meaning "the red one". Wouldn't surprise me one bit. Let's start calling him Krasnov from now on... Krasnov.

Mike Waltz is an idiot.
